Partnership Overview
Logz.io, a cloud-native observability platform built on open source tooling, announced a partnership with HashiCorp, the company behind widely adopted infrastructure-automation software including Vault, Terraform, and Consul. The collaboration is aimed at helping DevOps and DevSecOps engineers achieve better visibility into secure, multi-cloud environments without sacrificing performance or operational simplicity.
Both companies position themselves as champions of open source. The partnership combines HashiCorp’s strengths in secrets management and infrastructure automation with Logz.io’s managed observability stack — which is built on the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and Grafana-compatible infrastructure monitoring.
The Problem This Integration Solves
Securing cloud workloads requires tight control over tokens, passwords, certificates, and encryption keys — exactly what HashiCorp Vault is designed to handle. However, operating Vault at scale also introduces operational complexity: teams need to monitor Vault’s health, detect anomalous access patterns, track permission changes, and respond quickly to incidents such as high-availability (HA) reconfigurations.
Without a dedicated observability layer, Vault audit logs can be difficult to query, correlate with other infrastructure signals, or route into alerting workflows. This gap is what the Logz.io–HashiCorp integration targets.
What the HashiCorp Vault Integration Provides
As part of the partnership, Logz.io developed a Vault integration that ingests Vault audit logs into Logz.io’s managed platform. According to the announcement, the integration enables teams to:
- Monitor Vault audit logs centrally alongside other application and infrastructure logs.
- Set up alerts for specific Vault events, such as elevated permission changes or HA reconfiguration events.
- Use ELK and Grafana-compatible tooling on a single, fully managed platform while keeping credentials stored securely in Vault.
- Correlate security signals from Vault with broader DevOps observability data covering development, operations, and security perspectives.
Asvin Ramesh, Director of Technology Alliances at HashiCorp, commented on the integration: “The integration that was developed allows customers using Logz.io to have better visibility into their environment through audit logs from Vault.”
Additional Integrations: Terraform and Consul
The Vault integration is not the only deliverable from this partnership. Engineers working in the HashiCorp ecosystem can also take advantage of two further integrations:
- HashiCorp Terraform provider for Logz.io: Allows teams to create, manage, and update Logz.io resources — such as log alerts, dashboards, and user accounts — using Terraform infrastructure-as-code workflows. This enables full GitOps-style management of observability configuration.
- HashiCorp Consul metrics ingestion: Teams can ingest metrics from Consul agents into Logz.io’s Infrastructure Monitoring product (Grafana-compatible), enabling visibility into service discovery and distributed service health alongside other infrastructure metrics.
How This Fits Into a DevSecOps Workflow
For teams running a CI/CD pipeline on multi-cloud infrastructure, the challenge is not just building and deploying applications — it is also maintaining a coherent view of security posture and operational health across many moving parts. The Logz.io–HashiCorp integration stack addresses several layers of this challenge:
- Secrets management visibility (Vault): Who accessed what credential, when, and from where? Were any permissions elevated unexpectedly?
- Infrastructure state (Terraform + Logz.io provider): Is observability configuration itself tracked as code and auditable?
- Service mesh and discovery health (Consul): Are distributed services registering and communicating as expected?
- Log and security analytics (ELK + Cloud SIEM): Can security events be correlated across logs, metrics, and audit trails in a single pane of glass?
