Temenos Named Google Cloud’s Financial Services Technology Partner of the Year

Temenos (SIX: TEMN), the banking software company, announced it has been recognized by Google Cloud as its Technology Partner of the Year in Financial Services. The award acknowledges Temenos’ work in helping financial services organizations run mission-critical banking software on Google Cloud, build profitable business models, and differentiate customer experiences through modern cloud architecture.

The Temenos–Google Cloud Partnership

Temenos and Google Cloud established a joint go-to-market strategy aimed at delivering cloud-native banking software that improves scalability, operational efficiency, time-to-market, and ongoing innovation. The collaboration began in 2019, integrating Temenos’ cloud-native, cloud-agnostic software stack into the Google Cloud platform.

The partnership had already produced results with joint banking customers across Europe and Asia at the time of the announcement. Temenos’ full end-to-end software portfolio — covering branch banking, digital banking, and core banking — is available on Google Cloud.

First Global Banking Software Provider on Google Cloud Anthos

A key milestone highlighted by the award was Temenos becoming the first global banking software provider to run on Google Cloud Anthos. Anthos is Google Cloud’s hybrid and multi-cloud application platform, enabling organizations to migrate, modernize, and deploy applications whether on-premises, in a single cloud, or across multiple clouds.

For financial institutions, this matters because it provides flexibility and vendor independence — banks are not locked into a single infrastructure provider. Built on open-source technology, Anthos helps banks improve both employee and customer experiences while aiming to reduce infrastructure costs and increase revenue potential.

What Industry Leaders Said

“As a strategic global banking software partner of Google Cloud, we bring together innovative solutions that combine our API-first, cloud-native, microservices-based banking software with Google Cloud’s scale and leading cloud capabilities. Together, we help banks reduce their time to market and operational complexity, allowing them to elastically scale and deliver outstanding digital customer experiences. With Google Cloud’s Anthos, we give banks the freedom to innovate and reap the true benefits of hybrid and multi-cloud.”

— Alexa Guenoun, President, Americas and Global Head of Partners, Temenos

“Through our strategic partnership, Temenos’ full suite of banking software and applications are available on Google Cloud, and with Anthos, financial services organizations can deliver mission-critical workloads across on-premises and cloud environments, or even across multiple clouds. We’re proud to partner with Temenos and look forward to working together to help banks digitally transform their businesses.”

— Kevin Ichhpurani, Corporate Vice President, Global Ecosystem, Google Cloud

Temenos’ Cloud Banking Credentials

According to the announcement, over 3,000 financial services institutions worldwide use Temenos’ cloud-native, API-first technology. The company reports investing approximately 20% of its revenues in R&D and claims more than a decade of experience in cloud banking at the time of the award.

Temenos also states it was the first banking software vendor to offer cloud-to-cloud, active-active resilience — a high-availability architecture that enables workloads to run simultaneously across multiple cloud regions or providers, reducing the risk of downtime for banking operations.

Key Technical Capabilities Highlighted

  • API-first architecture: Enables banks to integrate Temenos software with third-party fintech ecosystems and internal systems through well-defined APIs.
  • Microservices-based design: Allows individual banking functions to be deployed, scaled, and updated independently, reducing operational risk.
  • Cloud-agnostic deployment: Temenos software can run on Google Cloud, other public clouds, or on-premises infrastructure, giving institutions flexibility.
  • Elastic scalability: Banks can scale compute resources dynamically with transaction demand, which is particularly valuable for peak periods.
  • Distributed database technology: Supports resilient, high-performance data storage across distributed cloud environments.
  • Multi-cloud resilience: Active-active configurations across cloud providers reduce dependency on any single vendor’s infrastructure.

Why This Matters for DevOps and Cloud Engineering Teams in Financial Services

For DevOps and platform engineering teams working within banks or fintech companies, this partnership signals a broader trend: major core banking vendors are investing seriously in cloud-native, container-based deployment models compatible with Kubernetes-based platforms like Anthos. Rather than lift-and-shift approaches, the emphasis here is on genuinely cloud-native architecture — microservices, API gateways, and hybrid deployment pipelines.

Teams evaluating cloud strategy for regulated financial workloads should note that hybrid and multi-cloud platforms like Anthos can help address data residency, regulatory compliance, and business continuity requirements simultaneously, without requiring a full migration to a single public cloud provider.
