June 1, 2021 – ServiceNow, a company that streamlines work processes with modern digital workflows, recently debuted its first product designed for the manufacturing sector. The company is partnering with Siemens Energy to provide a software service that allows energy companies to monitor, identify and respond to cyber threats intended to attack critical infrastructure.

This partnership and new offering couldn’t have come at a better time, said Leo Simonovich, head of Industrial Cybersecurity at Siemens Energy. “The energy landscape is the most attacked sector of critical infrastructure, and for good reason: it’s the backbone of our economy,” Simonovich said. “Legacy assets, like control systems and PLCs, are being brought online and connected to other assets to realize the benefits of digitalization. Every new asset that gets connected introduces new vulnerabilities in the infrastructure.”

Marshall Tyler, vice president of Industry Solutions at ServiceNow, said customers have been asking for help securing critical infrastructure, so ServiceNow is happy to answer the call. “This is the #1 thing our customers have asked us to do,” he said. The company’s workflow automation platform enables an enterprise to optimize business processes in any area, including logistics, customer service, employee hiring or scientific discovery.

The Siemens Energy solution combines AI-based software from Siemens’ Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service with ServiceNow’s Operational Technology Management software to detect cyber anomalies and create a workflow to streamline their mitigation.

“Various parts of an organization—such as the field, operations center and control room—have to work together quickly to stop cyber threats,” Simonovich said. “We are helping create bridges between these different parts of an organization. With our joint capabilities, we are providing a detection capability that allows operators to zero in on threats without shutting down the whole system.”

“We are taking the IT expertise we have gained over the years and applying it to the manufacturing sector,” said Abhijit Mitra, vice president and GM, Industry Products, at ServiceNow. “We are applying our workflow platform in the area of operational tech management.” He explained that after various anomalies—potential or definite cyber threats have been identified—they need to be prioritized. “ServiceNow will help orchestrate the workflow for dealing with these threats.”

Source:-https://stockhouse.com/

ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW), the leading digital workflow company that makes work, work better for people, has been named a Leader in the 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant for the CRM Customer Engagement Center. This is the second consecutive year that ServiceNow has been recognized as a Leader for its Customer Service Management (CSM) solution. According to a 2021 Gartner Market Share report, ServiceNow’s market share in worldwide revenue grew 75.6% in the Customer Service and Support market in 2020.

Transforming customer service requires looking at the end-to-end customer experience from initial engagement through issue resolution. Organizations traditionally focus on the engagement layer of customer service, which involves how customers make requests and how agents perform on the phone and in chats. Delivering great customer experiences also requires streamlining and automating the other critical aspect of customer service – fulfilling customers’ requests – which is performed in the customer operations layer.

ServiceNow offers a unique set of capabilities, enabled by digital workflows, that unite front-, middle- and back-office teams to simplify engagement, solve issues quickly and fix problems before customers notice they exist.

“Speed, agility and efficiency are must-have requirements for customer service in today’s environment,” said John Ball, SVP and GM of Customer Workflow Products at ServiceNow. “Powered by the Now Platform, ServiceNow delivers a complete solution for customer engagement and operations to improve the end-to-end customer experience and drive operational efficiency across industries.”

ServiceNow Customer Service Management is expected to be a $1B annual contract value (ACV) business for the company with an ACV run rate of more than $400 million as of the end of 2020. More than 1,500 customers use ServiceNow Customer Workflow products to modernize their customer service operations and drive customer loyalty, including AT&T, Capita Software, Lloyds Bank and Swarovski.

ServiceNow believes Gartner’s recognition of its CSM portfolio validates its approach to enhancing customer experiences by connecting customer engagement and customer operations with digital workflows.

ServiceNow has continued to enhance and evolve its CSM offering, with innovations including:

Workforce Optimization provides clear visibility into performance, makes customer service operations more efficient and gives managers actionable tools to manage their most important resource–people.
Process Optimization enables organizations to visually discover bottlenecks and inefficiencies where automation and streamlined workflows can improve the end-to-end customer experience.
Engagement Messenger for CSM provides contextual services and allows customers to both natively embed self-service into any web application and have the ability to escalate to human assistance. This capability powers knowledge management, service catalog, live chat and virtual agents, all through a consumer-grade experience.

Source:-https://www.scmagazine.com/

ServiceNow, a cloud-based service ticket workflow application partnered with ZScaler to provide customers the option to maintain security for remote workers via ZScaler’s zero trust access.

Amit Raikar, vice president of technology alliances and business development at ZScaler, said the new integrations will enable ServiceNow users to have zero-trust connectivity to the ServiceNow platform with all the data protection policy enforcement for data in motion and at rest.

The new integration also extends to automation. With integration in ServiceNow and ZScaler, the system can check whether a particular file or url is malicious and automate the process of blocking it. “Typically the processes to respond to these security incidents are manually done,” Raikar said, adding that with the enrichments through automation, security teams can be more effective.

“They can now reduce false positives and false negatives and be more efficient, because by reducing manual tasks you are reducing errors,” Raikar said.

Another benefit of the partnership: ServiceNow customers can connect through one of ZScaler’s 150 data centers around the world, with users connecting to the closest data center geographically, versus getting routed through a centralized data center in the United States.

“The migration of applications and data to the cloud is driving network transformation,” said Amit Sinha, president and CTO at Zscaler. “Simultaneously, organizations are shifting to a hybrid workforce where work from anywhere has quickly become the norm, requiring a completely new approach to security, built on zero trust.”

Source:-https://securitybrief.asia/

Zscaler and ServiceNow have announced new integrations designed to enhance customer’s zero trust architectures by providing complete control of sensitive cloud-based data and fast threat detection and response.

The new offering provides native ingestion of Zscaler’s cloud security threat intelligence in order to accelerate threat investigation and response workflows for cloud-first organisations, the companies state.

It provides security teams with the ability to view actionable data using a single console, reducing the need to use different management tools for point products.

With Zscaler Data Protection integrations, customers can improve data protection and compliance on the ServiceNow Now Platform, according to the companies.

By allowing Zscaler to control authentication, remote and unmanaged devices can be restricted from accessing ServiceNow’s platform and data.

Devices can only access ServiceNow through Zscaler, whereby security policies and access control to sensitive data can be enforced.

Specific benefits of the Zscaler and ServiceNow integrations include:

Restore data protection and compliance: Businesses can improve data visibility and help prevent exfiltration by scanning designated ServiceNow instances for sensitive data and violations in order to be able to quickly understand how data is being used and who is accessing it.

Securely enable work from anywhere: Unmanaged and BYOD devices are prevented from accessing the Now Platform and the sensitive data that resides in it, enabling a secure work-from-anywhere experience across secure managed devices only.

Streamline incident response: The addition of Zscaler Threat intelligence to incident response workflows within the ServiceNow Security Incident Response Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) solution allows IT leaders to respond more quickly to emerging threats and gain better fidelity across emerging incidents.

Additionally, ServiceNow can automate the addition of new malicious domains and URLs into Zscaler Internet Access to immediately contain a threat.

Zscaler president, CTO and board member Amit Sinha says, “The migration of applications and data to the cloud is driving network transformation.

“Simultaneously, organisations are shifting to a hybrid workforce where work from anywhere is quickly becoming the norm, requiring a completely new approach to security, built on zero trust.

“Zscaler ensures that only authenticated users and secure devices can access ServiceNow, based on business policies and without putting them on the same network.

“By sharing threat intelligence and leveraging context based access controls, Zscaler and ServiceNow can reduce business risk, simplify compliance and improve work from anywhere user experience.”

ServiceNow SVP of IT workflow products says, “As modern companies race to digitise, rapid technology and data growth have made data privacy and security a board-level concern.

“ServiceNow’s workflows create an enterprise-wide fabric that help ensure the resilience and agility of a company’s digital landscape.

“The Zscaler collaboration extends our workflows to help customers investigate and mitigate security issues that can disrupt business and tarnish brands.”

Source:-https://www.fiercetelecom.com/ Operators can remain successful but risk missing out on new revenue streams and being relegated to a less important […]

Source:-https://www.fiercetelecom.com/

Operators can remain successful but risk missing out on new revenue streams and being relegated to a less important role in the connectivity ecosystem if they don’t pursue key as-a-service offerings, a ServiceNow executive told Fierce.

On Tuesday, June 8, a panel of experts will delve into the challenges and opportunities around Network-as-a-Service (NaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service offerings during FierceTelecom’s free summer Blitz Week event. Ahead of the session, ServiceNow director of product management Tom Schnarr told Fierce telcos do have the option to pursue a pure connectivity play, but will lose out on an opportunity to own the end customer as the technology landscape shifts.

“There will always be a demand for network and connectivity services, so the telco industry will continue to provide that. But now there’s more and more competition in that telco industry,” he said, adding as-a-service offerings represent “an opportunity to make great new amounts of revenue but it’s also a risk in their footprint and to the current offerings they have.”

For those not in the know, Google Cloud senior director of outbound product management for telecom and edge Gabriele Di Piazza explained NaaS “is a model in which customers rent networking services from a third-party vendor instead of building their own network infrastructure.” Meanwhile, PaaS and IaaS are both cloud computing models, with the former allowing customers to run and manage cloud applications and the latter providing resources such as capacity on demand, he said.

Di Piazza told Fierce enterprises are adopting these service models “to keep up with changing business requirements, new application needs, security threats [and] increased complexity” and reap the benefits of “greater speed, agility, scale and reduced costs.”

In terms of whether telcos or cloud players should be the one to deliver them, Di Piazza said “there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach for providing these services.” He acknowledged there are benefits to telcos and cloud companies working together in some cases, noting a cloud network like Google’s can “pair very nicely” with that of a CSP to provide global reach and scale.

Schnarr had slightly different take, arguing telcos have an leg up in this space – at least for the time being. “The telcos have a critical asset, they own the network and the network is a critical part of this capability,” he said, but warned cloud players “are building their own networks and they can lease the spectrum.”

“That network and the ability to move the workload around is an advantage the telcos have that the cloud providers are going to be gaining as quickly as they can,” he stated.

In terms of where to start the as-a-service journey, Schnarr said it’s important for telcos to begin developing a service model and catalog. “It really starts with that, how do you describe your capabilities from a technical perspective so now there can be modularity built up into the offer we want to make available…It can then follow a consistent pattern,” he explained.

Schnarr added the process of deploying as-a-service offerings should be thought of as a marathon rather than a sprint. For example, he said, one Tier-1 operator ServiceNow works with started with just one product, which took about six weeks to model. Since then, it’s been able to onboard additional services at a pace of one about every four weeks. “It’s going to take us several years before we get all their services on board, but the snowball is quickly building and we’re able to increase the speed as momentum grows,” he concluded.

Source:-https://www.dbta.com/ Blancco Technology Group, provider of data erasure and mobile device diagnostics, has integrated with ServiceNow to enable data sanitization […]

Source:-https://www.dbta.com/

Blancco Technology Group, provider of data erasure and mobile device diagnostics, has integrated with ServiceNow to enable data sanitization capabilities directly from the Now Platform. As a certified ServiceNow Independent Software Vendor (ISV), Blancco’s Secure Data Erasure app is now available on the ServiceNow Store, an enterprise application marketplace.

According to the vendors, the integration between ServiceNow IT Asset Management and Blancco simplifies the data sanitization process by allowing ServiceNow customers to perform secure, enterprisewide data erasure within their existing IT asset management services. Customers also have access to a centralized view of all managed assets from which they can trigger the remote erasure process. This single-source approach further streamlines and simplifies IT asset management across the organization, giving enterprises the ability to remotely, securely and easily erase devices anytime, anywhere.

“Enterprise security teams today are on high alert due to the increased number of company IT assets being used by at-home workforces, making the need for secure remote data sanitization greater than ever,” said Matt Jones, CEO, Blancco. “Our collaboration with ServiceNow enables global businesses to fortify data security, seamlessly consolidate risk mitigation strategies, and meet regulatory compliance and certification mandates with a proven remote data erasure process that is both user friendly and cost-efficient.”

More specifically, the Blancco Secure Data Erasure app allows IT teams to:

remotely trigger and monitor erasure of servers, loose drives, PCs, laptops and other drive-dependent devices—capturing results with centrally stored, audit-ready reports to prove compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR, CCPA and more.
view erasure-eligible ServiceNow assets and apply erasures through approvals, workflows, scripting or on-demand from the user interface, reducing labor costs and improving efficiency.
choose from more than 25 data erasure standards, including DoD 5220.22-M, NIST 800-88 Clear and Purge, and Blancco’s patented SSD erasure method to ensure that data is protected according to enterprise and industry requirements.
The eradication of confidential data from used drives and devices also allows IT asset managers and data center administrators to extract additional value from used technology assets by extending device use, a practice that supports corporate social responsibility programs through the reduction of e-waste

Source:-https://www.privateequitywire.co.uk/

Since the Highmetric brand goes with the Gryphon acquisition, the remaining company has rebranded as MajorKey Technologies. Acacia will continue to build MajorKey as a market leader amongst its investments in technology product and services companies delivering cloud-enabled digital transformation for commercial and government clients.

Acacia first acquired The Column Group in May 2019 and completed two bolt-on acquisitions before unifying the company under the Highmetric brand earlier this year. Over that time, the company’s ServiceNow division continued to grow rapidly— consolidating its position as one of the world’s leading ServiceNow Elite Partners. In March, Highmetric was recognized by ServiceNow as the 2021 Americas Customer Workflow Partner of the Year.

“As a result of Highmetric’s exceptional reputation, we received several unsolicited approaches to acquire its ServiceNow practice,” said Acacia Group partner Craig Dawson. “Gryphon demonstrated that they have both the vision and resources to build a truly global ServiceNow business. We wish them every success in their new endeavour.”

Operating as MajorKey Technologies, the remaining business brings together over 420 technical, sales and delivery specialists focused on helping public and private sector clients unlock the benefits of cloud-enabled digital transformation. Their solutions architecture, software development and managed services expertise encompasses a range of capabilities, including Enterprise Service Management, Cloud Operations, Identity and Access Management, and DevSecOps.

The Acacia Group is working with the MajorKey management team on ambitious plans to grow the company’s existing core practices as well as investing in new technologies and capabilities.

The company’s ultimate mission is to enable clients to respond to the needs of their customers as one cohesive, agile unit across their entire enterprise, aligning people with process, and process with technology.

MajorKey is one of Acacia’s focused investments in companies developing and delivering products, professional and managed services to enterprise clients and government agencies, with an emphasis on cloud-enabled digital transformation. Acacia’s other investments include Applied Insight and ID Technologies, both focused on the US federal technology sector and recognised for their award-winning cloud and endpoint security product innovations. Together, these Acacia-backed companies are enabling thousands of government and commercial users to collaborate securely in delivering high quality services to their customers and the nation.

Jefferies LLC acted as the exclusive financial advisor, and Miles and Stockbridge PC served as legal counsel to Highmetric on this transaction.

Source:-https://devclass.com/ Microsoft has made available TypeScript 4.3, the latest release of its programming language that builds on JavaScript and follows […]

Source:-https://devclass.com/

Microsoft has made available TypeScript 4.3, the latest release of its programming language that builds on JavaScript and follows the release candidate that was made available earlier this month.

New in this release is support for separate write types on properties, to address the issue of APIs converting values that are passed in before storing them if the developer has not explicitly defined what type a value is. As of 4.3, users can specify types for reading and writing to properties.

TypeScript 4.3 has also introduced the override keyword to use when extending classes. This is to avoid the unintended consequences if a developer does not make it explicit whether they meant to add a new method or override an existing one.

Breaking changes in this release stem from the removal of APIs that no browser implements in declarations generated for web contexts, while if a value with a union enum type is compared with a numeric literal that it could never be equal to, then the type-checker will now issue an error. See the Microsoft DevBlog for further details.

Red Hat provides Universal Base Images on Docker Hub
Advertisement
Red Hat has rolled out Red Hat Universal Base Images on Docker Hub, claiming this will make it easier for organisations to build cloud-native applications based on tested and trusted components of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Red Hat Universal Base Images (UBI) are containerised operating system images that include complementary runtime languages and packages. They are Open Container Initiative (OCI)-compliant and freely redistributable, the firm said.

UBI images are offered in a variety of configurations tailored for different enterprise IT use cases. These include Standard, which provides the necessary runtimes and YUM repositories to build, deploy and share UBI-based containers, while Minimal contains the bare essentials for a lightweight RHEL-based image.

Previously, UBI could only be obtained from the Red Hat container catalogue. With availability extended to Docker Hub, it will be easier for UBI-based containers to be built and deployed anywhere, Red Hat claimed.

Databricks AutoML makes it easier to build machine learning models
DataBricks has announced a public preview of Databricks AutoML, a tool designed to help users build and deploy machine learning models by automating the heavy lifting of pre-processing, feature engineering and model training/tuning.

According to DataBricks, AutoML would allow users to select a dataset, then train and deploy a model entirely through a UI. It integrates with the Databricks ML ecosystem, including tracking trial run metrics and parameters with MLflow, allowing users to register and version control models in the Databricks Model Registry for deployment.

AutoML provides Python notebooks for every model, with the source code for each trial run so users can review, reproduce, and modify the code. Data scientists can use their expertise to add or modify cells to these generated notebooks, and use them to jumpstart ML development by bypassing the need to write boilerplate code.

GitHub champions OpenTelemetry
GitHub has announced it is working to adopt the CNCF OpenTelemetry project internally, as a way to improve observability of its own infrastructure. The GitHub team said the project has potential to transform how the entire industry approaches ways to observe and understand systems, and invited other developers to provide assistance.

OpenTelemetry introduces a common, vendor-neutral format for telemetry signals, called OpenTelemetry Protocol (OTLP). It also enables telemetry signals to be easily correlated with each other. GitHub said OpenTelemetry would enable it to build integrated and opinionated solutions for its engineers, so that designing for observability would be at the forefront of its engineer’s minds.

GitHub said that as its OpenTelemetry efforts progress, it intends to shift focus towards logging and metrics systems, and claimed it is contributing as much as possible back to the OpenTelemetry project for others to benefit from.

Digital.ai intros platform to improve Devops outcomes
Digital.ai has announced the Digital.ai Platform, which uses machine learning-based analytics in a bid to predict and prevent issues impacting software delivery and reliability.

The platform features end-to-end DevOps lifecycle orchestration capabilities, such as release management, risk management, and software delivery predictability. It has strong integration and collaboration with DevOps tools, including Azure DevOps, Chef, Jenkins, Atlassian Jira, ServiceNow and Selenium, according to Digital.ai.

CDK for Terraform 0.4 gets Go
HashiCorp has released CDK for Terraform 0.4, the latest update of the Cloud Development Kit for its Terraform infrastructure-as-code provisioning tool.

CDK for Terraform give developers the ability to write Terraform configurations in C#, Python, TypeScript, and Java, using all existing Terraform providers and Terraform modules. This release has added experimental Go support, one of the top requests from users, according to HashiCorp.

Also added is a new asset construct that makes it easy to reference files and folders that need to be deployed alongside newly provisioned resources such as applications, plus improved Terraform Cloud integration. The CDK for Terraform changelog contains a comprehensive list of enhancements and bug fixes applying to this release.

Regional and specialist providers differentiate on data residency, compliance, industry-specific features, and managed services expertise.

Cloud Deployment Models

The market is commonly segmented by deployment model, each of which addresses different organizational risk tolerances, regulatory requirements, and workload characteristics:

Public Cloud

Resources are owned and operated by a third-party provider and delivered over the public internet. Public cloud is the fastest-growing segment, favored for its elasticity, pay-as-you-go pricing, and minimal capital expenditure. Typical use cases include web applications, development and test environments, big data analytics, and SaaS delivery.

Private Cloud

Infrastructure is dedicated to a single organization, either hosted on-premises or in a colocation facility. Private cloud is preferred in regulated industries — financial services, defense, healthcare — where data sovereignty and security control are non-negotiable.

Hybrid Cloud

A combination of public and private cloud environments connected through orchestration and data portability. Hybrid cloud allows organizations to keep sensitive workloads on private infrastructure while bursting to public cloud for variable demand. It is the deployment model of choice for most large enterprises navigating the transition from legacy data centers.

Key Industry Verticals and Applications

Cloud computing services are being adopted across a wide range of sectors. The Reportspedia study highlights four primary application segments:

Government

Public sector agencies are adopting cloud for citizen-facing digital services, back-office modernization, and inter-agency data sharing. Compliance with frameworks such as FedRAMP (USA), G-Cloud (UK), and equivalent national programs governs procurement and drives demand for sovereign or community cloud offerings.

Healthcare

Cloud enables electronic health record (EHR) systems, telemedicine platforms, genomics research, and AI-assisted diagnostics. Data privacy regulations (HIPAA in the USA, GDPR in Europe) create strong demand for private and hybrid deployments with robust audit capabilities.

Manufacturing

Industrial IoT, predictive maintenance, digital twins, and supply chain visibility are driving cloud adoption on factory floors. Edge computing extensions of public cloud platforms are becoming critical for low-latency operational technology workloads.

Telecom and IT

Telecommunications companies are migrating network functions to the cloud (Network Functions Virtualization, cloud-native 5G core) and building managed cloud services for enterprise customers. IT services firms use cloud platforms to deliver DevOps, AIOps, and managed security offerings.

Regional Market Dynamics

Cloud adoption rates and competitive dynamics differ significantly by region:

United States: The most mature market; home to the leading hyperscalers and a dense ecosystem of SaaS and cloud-native ISVs.

Europe: Growth is strong, but shaped by GDPR compliance requirements and increasing political interest in digital sovereignty. Local providers such as OVH compete alongside US hyperscalers offering EU-specific data residency options.

China: A distinct market where domestic providers (Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Huawei Cloud) dominate due to regulatory constraints on foreign cloud providers.

Japan: Enterprise-focused market with high demand for managed services; NTT DATA and FUJITSU are key local players alongside global hyperscalers.

Southeast Asia and India: Fast-growing regions driven by expanding internet penetration, digital payments, e-commerce, and government digitization programs. All major hyperscalers have established or expanded regional data center presence here.

COVID-19 Impact on Cloud Adoption

The pandemic served as an accelerant for cloud migration. Remote work requirements drove rapid adoption of cloud-based collaboration tools, VDI, and secure access services. Healthcare systems scaled telehealth infrastructure overnight. Retailers accelerated e-commerce buildouts on cloud platforms. At the same time, economic uncertainty pressured IT budgets, making the operational-expenditure model of cloud more attractive than upfront capital investment in hardware.

The net effect was a pull-forward of cloud adoption timelines that many analysts expected would have taken three to five additional years under normal conditions.

Market Forecast Period: 2020–2027

The Reportspedia study covers historical data from 2015–2019 as a baseline and projects forward through 2027. Specific market size figures and CAGR values were not disclosed in the public summary reviewed for this article. Readers requiring precise forecasts should consult the full licensed report directly from the publisher.

Broadly, multiple independent analyst firms consistently projected double-digit compound annual growth rates for the overall cloud services market through this period, driven by the factors outlined above — an assessment broadly consistent with the directional conclusions of the Reportspedia study.

Competitive Strategy Themes

Across the profiled vendors, several recurring strategic themes are observable in the market:

Platform breadth vs. specialization: Hyperscalers compete on the depth and breadth of their service catalogs; specialist vendors compete on vertical depth and integration with specific enterprise workflows.

Multi-cloud and hybrid management: Vendors are investing in control planes and management tools that span multiple clouds, responding to enterprise demand to avoid lock-in.

Edge computing expansion: Public cloud providers are extending their platforms closer to end users and industrial assets, blurring the boundary between cloud and on-premises computing.

Industry clouds: Tailored cloud environments pre-configured for specific verticals (healthcare, financial services, manufacturing) are becoming a key differentiation strategy.

Sustainability commitments: Carbon-neutral and renewable-energy pledges are increasingly influential in enterprise procurement decisions, particularly in Europe.

Summary

The global cloud computing service market encompasses a broad ecosystem of hyperscale providers, enterprise software vendors, regional specialists, and managed service partners. The transition from on-premises to cloud-delivered IT is well underway across government, healthcare, manufacturing, and telecom sectors worldwide. Organizations evaluating their cloud strategy should assess deployment model fit (public, private, or hybrid), vendor ecosystem alignment, regional data residency requirements, and total cost of ownership — not just headline compute pricing.

An overview of the SaaS software market landscape in 2020, covering leading vendors, product categories, application segments, and regional dynamics shaping the industry through 2027.

SaaS Software Market in 2020: Key Players, Segments, and Growth Drivers

The Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) market entered the 2020s at an inflection point. Accelerated cloud adoption, the sudden shift to remote work caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and enterprise digital-transformation initiatives converged to reshape demand across every vertical. This article summarises the major dimensions of the SaaS software market as analysed in research published around mid-2020, covering key vendors, product segments, application areas, and regional dynamics for the forecast period through 2027.

Note: The market data below is drawn from a third-party market research summary (originally attributed to Market Research Intellect via scientect). Specific revenue figures, growth rates, and market-size projections were not included in the source material and are therefore not reproduced here.

COVID-19 and Its Impact on SaaS Demand

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains and export-import activity across most technology sectors in 2020.
SaaS sprawl and cost management – As the number of subscriptions per organisation multiplied, managing spend, redundancy, and shadow IT became a significant operational challenge.

What This Means for DevOps Teams

For engineers and platform teams, the growth of the SaaS market has practical implications beyond vendor selection:

Observability tooling – Platforms like Datadog and Splunk have moved from nice-to-have to essential infrastructure as distributed SaaS architectures increase the complexity of diagnosing production issues.

Identity and access management – Managing authentication across dozens of SaaS tools requires robust SSO and directory-federation strategies (e.g., SAML, OIDC).

Infrastructure as code for SaaS configuration – Tools like Terraform now offer providers for many SaaS platforms, enabling teams to manage SaaS resource configuration declaratively alongside cloud infrastructure.

FinOps discipline – As SaaS subscription costs scale with team size and usage, engineering organisations increasingly own a portion of the SaaS budget and need tooling to track and optimise spend.

Summary

The SaaS software market in 2020 was defined by accelerating cloud adoption, a COVID-19-driven demand surge, and a maturing vendor ecosystem spanning CRM, ERP, collaboration, observability, and vertical-specific platforms. Companies like Microsoft, Salesforce, Workday, Datadog, and Twilio represent the breadth of what SaaS has become: not a single category but an entire delivery model reshaping how enterprise software is built, distributed, and consumed. Understanding the market structure — its segments, drivers, and constraints — helps DevOps and platform engineering teams make more informed decisions about toolchain composition, vendor risk, and long-term architecture.

Its incident-related capabilities are oriented toward device health monitoring, automated remediation scripts, and ticketing, rather than the developer-focused on-call workflows of PagerDuty or Opsgenie.

ServiceNow

ServiceNow is an enterprise ITSM platform with a comprehensive incident management module aligned to ITIL practices. It is common in large enterprises where IT operations, security operations, and HR workflows are managed on a unified platform. Implementation typically requires dedicated configuration and administration resources.

Other Vendors Mentioned

Symantec: Known primarily for cybersecurity products; its incident management capabilities are security-incident focused rather than general IT/DevOps incident response.

Web Help Desk (SolarWinds): A ticketing and ITSM tool for IT teams, covering incident and request management with asset tracking.

DERDACK Enterprise Alert: An alerting and incident notification platform, often used in critical infrastructure and OT/IT environments, with strong mobile and escalation features.

SunView ChangeGear: An ITSM platform offering incident, change, and problem management, positioned for mid-to-large IT organizations.

How to Evaluate Incident Management Tools

When selecting an incident management platform, consider the following dimensions:

1. Team Context: DevOps vs. ITSM

Developer and SRE teams typically prioritize low-latency alerting, CLI/API access, and integrations with observability tools. IT operations and service desk teams often need ITIL-aligned workflows, approval processes, and asset management. Platforms like PagerDuty and Opsgenie lean toward the former; ServiceNow and Freshservice toward the latter.

2. Integration Ecosystem

Check whether the platform integrates natively with your existing monitoring stack (e.g., Prometheus/Alertmanager, Datadog, Grafana, New Relic), communication tools (Slack, Microsoft Teams), and version control or CI/CD systems.

3. On-Call Scheduling Flexibility

Evaluate support for multi-layer escalation policies, rotation schedules (daily, weekly, follow-the-sun), override management, and holiday scheduling.

4. Alert Noise Reduction

Alert fatigue is a significant operational risk. Look for platforms that offer alert grouping, deduplication, suppression windows, and machine-learning-based event correlation.

5. Post-Incident Review Support

Blameless post-mortems drive reliability improvements over time. Check whether the platform provides automated incident timelines, action item tracking, and reporting to support a continuous improvement culture.

6. Pricing Model

Most platforms use per-user or per-seat pricing. Clarify whether pricing scales with number of services, integrations, or alert volume, as these can significantly affect total cost for larger environments.

Market Segments and Regional Adoption

According to the report summary, the global IT/DevOps Incident Management Software market was analyzed across the following regions: North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East & Africa, and Latin America. North America has historically been the largest market for DevOps tooling adoption, driven by the concentration of technology companies and enterprises with mature SRE practices. Asia Pacific is a significant and growing region, with large-scale digital transformation initiatives in markets such as India, China, Japan, and Australia.

Specific market-size figures and growth rate projections from the cited report are not reproduced here, as independent verification of those numbers was not possible at the time of writing.

Summary

The incident management software market includes a wide range of tools, from developer-focused on-call platforms (PagerDuty, Opsgenie, Splunk On-Call) to full ITSM suites (ServiceNow, Freshservice, Jira Service Management) and RMM tools (NinjaOne). The right choice depends on team composition, existing tooling, compliance requirements, and the complexity of your service architecture. Evaluating tools with a proof-of-concept integration against your actual alert sources and on-call workflows is strongly recommended before committing to a platform.
