What is Python?

Python is a high-level, interpreted programming language known for its simplicity and readability. Developed by Guido van Rossum and first released in 1991, Python emphasizes code readability and uses significant indentation, which helps reduce the complexity of code. Python supports multiple programming paradigms, including procedural, object-oriented, and functional programming.

One of Python’s primary design philosophies is that “there should be one—and preferably only one—obvious way to do it,” which makes it easy to learn for beginners and versatile for professionals. Python’s syntax allows developers to express concepts in fewer lines of code than might be required in other programming languages, making it an ideal language for both beginner and advanced programmers.

Key Features of Python:

Interpreted Language: Python code is executed line by line, which makes debugging easier but might affect execution speed compared to compiled languages.

Dynamically Typed: You do not need to declare variable types explicitly, allowing for faster development and more flexibility.

Cross-platform: Python can be used on different operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, and macOS, without requiring significant changes to the code.

Extensive Standard Library: Python comes with a large set of built-in modules that make it easy to perform various tasks such as file I/O, regular expressions, networking, and database handling.

Example:

# A simple Python program to print "Hello, World!"
print("Hello, World!")

How Python Works Along with Architecture?

Python works based on an architecture that consists of several layers, from the code written by developers to the final machine-level instructions. Here is an overview of how Python operates:

Source Code:

Python code is written by developers in plain text files, typically with a
.py
extension. This code contains functions, variables, control flow, and other constructs that define the behavior of the program.

Interpreter:

Python is an interpreted language, meaning that Python code is executed by an interpreter. The interpreter reads the Python source code and executes it line by line. The Python interpreter translates the Python code into intermediate bytecode.

The standard Python interpreter is CPython, which converts Python code into bytecode that is executed by the Python Virtual Machine (PVM).

Bytecode:

When a Python script is run, it is first compiled into bytecode, which is a lower-level, platform-independent representation of the source code. This bytecode is stored in
.pyc
or
.pyo
files (compiled Python files) in the
__pycache__
folder.

The bytecode is executed by the Python Virtual Machine (PVM), which is part of the Python runtime environment.

Python Virtual Machine (PVM):

The PVM is the part of the Python architecture that runs the bytecode. It interprets the bytecode and translates it into machine-specific instructions. The Python interpreter and PVM together form the Python runtime system.

Garbage Collection:

Python has an automatic garbage collection mechanism that manages memory usage. The memory management system in Python helps optimize the usage of memory by removing unused objects, making sure memory is freed when not in use.

What are the Basic Workflow of Python?

The basic workflow for working with Python typically involves the following steps:

Write the Python Code:

The first step is to write Python code in a code editor (e.g., Visual Studio Code, PyCharm). The code includes functions, variables, classes, and control flow to define the behavior of the program.

Save the Code:

The Python code is saved with the
.py
extension. It is important to structure your code properly and follow Python’s indentation rules, as Python uses indentation to define the scope of code blocks.

Run the Python Code:

To execute Python code, you use a command-line interface (CLI) or an integrated development environment (IDE) to run the Python file. The Python interpreter reads the
.py
file and translates it into bytecode.

Error Handling:

If there are any errors in the code, Python will display error messages that help the developer understand where the issue lies. Python has built-in exceptions and error handling mechanisms like
try-except
blocks to handle errors gracefully.

Debugging and Testing:

Once the code is running, you can test and debug it using Python’s debugging tools and unit testing libraries like
unittest
or
pytest
.

Refactoring and Optimization:

After the code works as expected, developers often refactor it to improve performance, readability, and maintainability. Python provides various optimization techniques and tools to enhance code efficiency.

Deploy and Distribute:

Once the code is tested, it can be deployed or distributed. In some cases, Python applications may be packaged into executables for easier distribution across different platforms.

Adopting a standardized set of DevOps tools that are well-integrated can simplify the implementation process. Many platforms like GitLab, Jenkins, and CircleCI offer integrated solutions that streamline workflows and reduce the need for manual configuration.

4. Security and Compliance Challenges

Major Features:

Integrating Security into the DevOps Pipeline (DevSecOps):

DevOps requires the integration of security throughout the entire software development lifecycle. However, many organizations struggle to incorporate security checks and practices into their CI/CD pipelines without slowing down the development process.

Ensuring Compliance:

Compliance requirements, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS, often mandate strict controls over data handling, security, and privacy. Ensuring that DevOps workflows remain compliant while maintaining speed and flexibility can be a major challenge.

Managing Secrets and Sensitive Data:

Handling sensitive data and secrets (e.g., API keys, passwords, encryption keys) securely is a challenge in DevOps. The use of multiple automation tools and cloud platforms increases the complexity of managing and storing secrets safely.

Solution:

Adopting DevSecOps practices, which integrate security into every stage of the DevOps pipeline, can help. Automating security testing (e.g., static and dynamic application security testing) and using tools for secret management (e.g., HashiCorp Vault) can mitigate security risks while maintaining agility.

5. Scalability and Infrastructure Management

History & Origin of Unit Testing

In 1997, a programmer named Kent Beck created a development environment plugin, JUnit, to test small pieces of code. Developers wrote test code that assessed the source code. He called the approach unit testing.

A unit test is a way of testing a unit – the smallest piece of code that can be logically separated into a system. In most programming languages, this is a function, a subroutine, a method, or a property. The separate part of the definition is important. In his book “Working Effectively with Legacy Code”, author Michael Feathers states that such tests are not unit tests when they rely on external systems: “If it talks to a database, it can run across the network.” If it touches the file system, it requires system configuration, or it cannot be run at the same time as any other test.”

What is Unit Testing?

Unit testing is a software testing technique through which individual units of software i.e. groups of computer program modules, usage procedures, and operating procedures are tested to determine whether they are suitable for use or not. It is a testing method using which each independent module is tested to determine if there is a problem by the developer himself. This is correlated with the functional correctness of the independent modules.

Unit testing is defined as a type of software testing where individual components of the software are tested. Unit testing of software products is done during the development of an application. An individual component can be either an individual act or a process. Unit testing is usually done by the developer.

Features of Unit Testing are:

Makes the Process Agile

Quality of Code

Finds Software Bugs Early

Facilitates Changes and Simplifies Integration

Provides Documentation

Debugging Process

Design

Reduce Costs

Why use Unit Testing

Unit Testing Interview Questions and Answers

1. What Is Unit Testing?
Unit testing is a validation and verification methodology where the developers test the individual units of source code. Some key points to be remembered from: –

A unit is the smallest part of the application which can be tested. So it can be either a method. Function or class.

These tests are conducted during development.

Unit test belongs to the white box testing category.

2) What Are The Different Ways By Which You Can Do Unit Testing With .net?
There are 2 primary/accepted ways of doing unit testing:-

NUNIT

Visual studio team edition test system

3) What is Code Coverage?
Code coverage is a metric that determines the number of lines of code validated successfully by a testing process, which helps to analyze how software is verified in depth. Of course, the ultimate aim of any software company is the development of software products for businesses. But, in order to achieve that goal, companies must ensure that all the essential quality features of the software they develop are accurate, maintainable, effective, trustworthy, and safe.

4) Tell some brief about Unit testing?
A unit test is a way to test a unit, the smallest code in a system that can logically be isolated. This is a function, a subroutine, a procedure, or a property in most programming languages. The single part of the definition is significant. Author Michael Feathers says in his book “Working Effectively with Legacy Code” that tests are not unit tests when relying on external systems: “If you talk to the database, you talk through the network, touch the file system, you need a system configuration, or you cannot run it simultaneously with any other test.”

5) How to check timeout testing, and write some code?
Here is the code from which we can check the timeout testing

@Test (timeout=10)
Public void infinity(){
While(true);
}

6) What is Branch Coverage?
Branch coverage is a test method to ensure that all access codes can be executed at least once each of the potential branches is executed from each decision point. In other words, every branch is right and wrong. In addition, it helps validate all the branches in the code to ensure that no branch results in abnormal application behavior.

7) What is the Advantage of unit testing?
There are many advantages of unit testing; some are UT simplifies the debugging process. UT forces better code and design, whether you use C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, or PHP. It means that you have a well-defined and cohesive code. Using unit testing and good unit testing tools, the total cost of a project is reduced. Early detection of bugs means fewer late changes and easier problems than if they were made later.

8) Who can perform Unit Testing?
The developers usually perform unit testing during the development phase. At the same time, unit testing is usually done by automation engineers and QA experts if developers are occupied with other development tasks.

9) How can Unit test cases be avoided?
It can help avoid long classes, procedures, functions, etc. when you are working with unit test cases. No long code is necessary, but the functionality of each small component needs to be tested step by step. It makes it easy to develop big apps.

10) List some various coverage code techniques
Here is the list of coverage code technique

Condition coverage

Statement coverage

Decision coverage

Branch Coverage

11) What does the term Refactoring mean?
This technique is used if you want to revamp any existing code. It is usually done in small steps in which the code alteration is not the functionality or logic. It also helps to correct bugs.

12) Tell me about Unit Testing in brief.
Unit Testing is used to check the independent modules of a software app during the development phase. An independent module can be anything like procedure, function, etc. Unit testing is done by developers and testers together before the integration testing. They have to write unit test cases as well if needed.

13) What is the total number of phases in a Unit Test Case?
The working of a unit test case can be divided into 3 phases. In the first stage, it will initialize the specific module of a software app that you want to test. In the second stage, it will execute the test case. In the end, it will analyze the final output.

14) What are the various types of Unit Testing for a software app?

State-based Unit Testing

Interaction-based Unit Testing

15) What do you know about state-based Unit Testing?
If you want to check if the final output is right or not, then it becomes state-based.

16) Tell me about interaction-based unit testing in brief.
If you want to check the behavior of functions or procedures, whether they are invoked in the right way or not then it is interaction-based.

17) Have you ever used or worked on Unit test frameworks? If yes, name them.
Yes, I do have practical knowledge of unit test frameworks, Junit, and TestNG.

18) Tell me about the Junit testing framework.
Several test cases need to be executed repeatedly. If you need test cases for repeated execution then the Junit framework can help you.

19) Who can perform Unit Testing?
Unit Testing is generally done during the development phase so that it can be performed by developers. At the same time, if developers are occupied with other development tasks then unit testing is generally performed by automation engineers and QA experts.

20) What do you know about the term Refactoring?
If you want to revamp any existing code, then this technique is used. It is generally done in small steps where only the code is changed, not the functionality of the logic. It helps in bug fixing too.

Source:-https://biztechmagazine.com/ That collaboration can take many forms, and for the uninitiated, approaches such as DevOps or agile development can be […]

Source:-https://biztechmagazine.com/

That collaboration can take many forms, and for the uninitiated, approaches such as DevOps or agile development can be hard to grasp at a high level — and they may seem like the same thing.

But while they may do similar things, agile and DevOps have some notable differences, and their greatest power may emerge when they come together in one cultural piece.

What Is Agile Development?
First codified during a 2001 meeting at a ski resort in Utah, agile development is an approach built around a philosophy that emphasizes collaborative responses and quick change. The Agile Manifesto that came out of that meeting broke down the importance of a customer-driven approach to development that favors the individual over process.

Since that point, agile development has exploded into a full-on discipline that’s widely used throughout the business world. According to one 2019 study, 97 percent of organizations use agile in some way, shape or form, but there is room for further uptake, as 48 percent of respondents say that less than half of their teams are agile.

While there were elements that predated the formalizing of a modern development processes, says Tara Hernandez, a senior engineering manager at Google, many of the concepts of DevOps later evolved through agile development’s encouragement of faster development cycles and close collaboration.

“As far as starting to formalize the discussion, the Agile Manifesto talked a lot about the 12 principles, earlier time-to-market and more interaction with customers,” she says, encapsulating the approach as: “What are the things that make your organization engage?”

The Key Principles of the Agile Manifesto
The Agile Manifesto’s 12 principles, as described by the Agile Alliance, include:

Customer satisfaction: The highest priority of an agile development approach is to satisfy customers through continuous delivery of software.
Frequent release cycles: Agile development relies on release cycles of a few weeks to a few months.
Close collaboration: Business staff should work closely with developers on the project.
Sustainable development: The approach should allow for a constant pace that can continue indefinitely.
There are different types of agile development — most notably, scrum, a sprint-driven approach that is most common among agile proponents — but ultimately, the goals of agile development focus on continuous software development that considers the needs of the consumer and can adapt to changes as they happen.

What Is DevOps?
Often described in the same breath as agile development, DevOps is a similar method that leans on improving processes so things get done faster.

DevOps, which was formalized around 2009 but whose roots date back years earlier, refers to a merger between development and IT operations that applies continuous integration methodologies to traditional infrastructure development.

While not limited to settings such as the cloud and the server room, DevOps is often associated with those technologies. A good example of this in action is DevSecOps, which extends the approach specifically to security needs so that response time is minimized and vulnerabilities are quickly detected.

How Does Agile Development Differ from DevOps?
DevOps, in many ways, is a maturation of the agile development approach, as both represent a reaction to the separated-out waterfall style of development. One term used in reference to both disciplines is the idea of “shifting left,” in which practices associated with later parts of a waterfall process are considered much earlier in an agile or DevOps process.

But in many ways, DevOps moves faster and has a different target audience. As a blog post from the tech education platform Guru99 notes, there are significant differences in scale, audience and the way that teams are structured. Agile development tends to enable problem-solving within smaller teams, while DevOps by nature tends to work across departments to help solve larger goals quickly.

Basically, DevOps “brings two large siloed teams together to allow for quicker software releases while Agile is focused on getting smaller teams to collaborate with each other so it can react quickly to the ever-changing consumer needs,” wrote Kaya Ismail in a 2018 comparison of the technologies for CMS Wire.

The role of interaction also differs in each approach: For example, DevOps leans heavily on process automation using tools such as Infrastructure as Code, while agile focuses on a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

How Can Agile and DevOps Be Used Together?
Despite differences between the two methodologies, a general understanding of the role of each can help pinpoint compatibility between the processes. With individual teams taking an agile development approach within a broader DevOps culture, the processes can be combined in a way that’s very complementary.

You do not need to choose between DevOps or agile — instead, you can make use of both methodologies. Agile is strong on methods to organize work, such as through Scrum or Kanban, and DevOps drives a broader culture of getting software delivered faster and more reliably.

In many ways, there is a lot of compatibility in how agile development and DevOps work that makes them very complementary. Hernandez notes that the evolution of DevOps formalized many of the ideas of agile, and as a result, both work at a cultural level, rather than as purely technical approaches.

“The key thing is, what do you need to do, both from a cultural standpoint and a technology standpoint, to enable fast, high-quality velocity of delivery? And it has to be cultural, because technology all by itself — no matter what some vendors will tell you — never solves these types of problems,” she says.

How Can Organizations Implement an Agile Approach to DevOps?
Ultimately, agile and DevOps can work well together, but there must be an understanding of the relationship between speed and quality, Hernandez says, noting that this may be different for every organization.

“Really understand what problem you are trying to solve, then tailor your efforts to that problem,” she says. “Otherwise, you’re likely not going to get what you want.”

Working with a strong partner, such as CDW Amplified™ Services, can help get you there. Only your organization will know what the perfect balance is between your agile teams and a DevOps-friendly culture, but having a helping hand to do the cultural work can maximize your technical capabilities.

Source:-https://devops.com/ Web development has changed a lot since DevOps first hit the scene. The languages used have shifted, where languages […]

Source:-https://devops.com/

Web development has changed a lot since DevOps first hit the scene. The languages used have shifted, where languages are used has shifted, the likely back-end hosting environment has changed – but DevOps has folded these issues in and just kept plugging along.

We’re going to approach this from two angles – what languages you’re likely to use, and what DevOps offers. This is not a “Best Billion Web Development Languages for 2021!” article; there are plenty of those out there, and you are more than welcome to read them. This is more about using these languages in a DevOps environment, which has become standard for web apps more than any other type of development.

We’ll start by observing that your web app is, more than likely, going to have at least three parts – HTML, CSS and JavaScript. This is not news to those of you doing it daily, but we’re just setting the bar, here. Other languages may be used to generate or populate any/all of the above, but, in the end, these three languages get sent to the browser, so will be part of the equation.

Backends add an incredible amount of complexity to this equation. I’ve done Ruby backends that did most of their work in C++ and Java; I’ve done pure Java backends that spit out the required three components; I’ve done Node backends that had very little actual HTML/JavaScript source code, but generated a ton of both – it’s all there. And the hosting environments for backends have changed. When DevOps started, most hosts were virtual machines (VMs) or hardware, whereas now we’re mostly running cloud instances or containers. Those backends have to be configured and managed, too, along with all of the dependencies that your application requires. When you think about it, we really have created quite a messy environment.

But DevOps has risen to this challenge.

I’ve long been an Atlassian fan, and find them to be a great tool for managing the agile side of DevOps. Add in Ansible, for the operations side, and you have a good thing going. I recently looked into GitLab, and GitOps – through GitLab – offers a compelling alternative to Atlassian’s offerings; more so since Atlassian made some rather unpopular changes right about the time I was wrapping up my look at GitLab.

The key is that Git holds all the code. By adding in the scripts to spin up those increasingly complex backends and secure the entire infrastructure, you get an “App in a (virtual) box.” No matter what DevOps toolchain you use, tying this in is simple, because it already works well with Git and associated tools.

Developers tend to care more about the development side of the equation (imagine that!), so let’s talk a bit about what’s going on out there.

PHP is hanging on solidly, with a bulk of applications and (perhaps more importantly) libraries to keep it in the running. PHP is one of the original “generate an HTML page” languages, and is slowly being displaced. It isn’t a bad choice for your web projects, but it isn’t the only – or at this point, the most popular – choice.

Java is still somewhat popular, and while it offers good support for web development, it is … heavy? Is that the word? It’s something for this type of development, and has ceded ground to other languages when it comes to pure-play web development. The skills are transferrable to other targets, so it is a good broad-use language. Like the other serious players in this space, there are web-centric libraries and frameworks that make Java hum. I’m a fan of Spring, but the options are pretty broad.

JavaScript wins this race today. It is used on both client and server, there are a ton of developers and DevOps people available who can be productive in JavaScript from day one, and it is increasingly used in other contexts – meaning skills could transfer to other projects. Like any language, there are trade-offs, but the portability aspect makes the trade-offs things that many are willing to work to overcome. Libraries and frameworks abound to make JS development faster and more dynamic. Personally, I like Node for server-side development, and Angular for clients that need more than straight HTML/CSS offers (probably because it’s the one I’ve used the most).

Python is definitely a contender in this space, as it is in most others today. With Django (or whatever your framework of choice), it functions well for web development, and its popularity has given it a host of support libraries to get things done. Developers are easy to find, and skills are broadly applicable, as Python is used in most areas of Dev and Ops at this point.

Windows aficionados are still using C#, and it does have good hooks into Microsoft DevOps tools, so any Microsoft shop should include it in evaluations. I’ve done C# on Azure for web apps, and for me it was … different, but not broken. In a Microsoft shop, C# will be familiar, and at this point, most developers are familiar with web clients, so merging the two is only a tiny bit of a learning curve, but not a major one.

Ruby does seem to have ceded its spot to Python. It is unlikely you’ll find a steady flow of ruby developers to fill those positions, but it is a highly intuitive language that you can train Java, and even Python developers in, if necessary. Ruby is well-supported for web development; indeed, it feels more natural using Ruby for web work than command line tools (at least to me, YMMV). There are web frameworks to make Ruby more intuitive in web development, and jRuby offers deep integration with Java to make use of already existing Java classes.

All in all, JavaScript should be the strong contender for a new project today, but any of these tools will serve the need. They are all well-supported, and DevOps tools start with integration to most of these languages. Do what’s best for your environment, and keep rocking it.

Source:-https://www.itproportal.com DevOps was designed to shorten development cycles, giving organizations renewed efficiency and, by its very definition, bridge the gap […]

Source:-https://www.itproportal.com

DevOps was designed to shorten development cycles, giving organizations renewed efficiency and, by its very definition, bridge the gap between software development and IT operations. Since its inception, it has empowered businesses to create software with greater team proximity. It’s hardly surprising the DevOps market size is now projected to reach $17 billion by 2026. The proliferation of digitization across industries has fueled this growth and transformed how enterprises and software producers develop their applications and digital services.

DevOps has indeed come a long way and has ultimately led companies to develop better products by increasing business agility and employee workflow. Yet despite its success, it still has some way to go in order to fulfil its true potential. The future of DevOps lies in people and the way companies approach digital workflows within their IT functions.

Fostering a cultural shift
To many, DevOps is still associated with being a technology solution. But truly effective DevOps is more about people, process and culture than it is about any single vendor’s toolchain. In fact, most programs often hinder their chances of success because paradoxically, they are too focused on the technology, rather than their own employees.

Employees are the ones adopting a DevOps approach and therefore need to embrace it as a cultural practice. Operations teams, developers and testers must collaborate during the development and delivery processes. Departments working cohesively is crucial to enterprise DevOps adoption. Cultural practices and norms that are characteristic of high-trust organizations, such as cross-functional collaboration, transparent information flow and shared responsibilities, are the same as those at the heart of DevOps. An organizational culture that nurtures effective software development programs and IT operations is one that encourages new ideas and enables teams to learn from failures. This is fundamentally why DevOps practices correlate so strongly with high organizational performance. The point is, it is only achievable when you show people the value of working differently through a more orchestrated approach.

Delivering a cultural shift within an organization must also come from the top down. If senior leaders get behind a collaborative culture, then the ethos will trickle down to all separate teams and individuals. It’s equally important to hire employees who embody such values and want to engage with and foster an environment of collaboration.

Embracing intelligent automation
When employees on both sides of DevOps start to understand what tasks they need to focus on, they can begin to consider which are the most and least important. This targeted approach will help employees prioritize their responsibilities in the process.

DevOps allows businesses to gain huge competitive advantage through automated functions that happen throughout the software development lifecycle, but automation only works successfully if people know that the advantage is there, otherwise they might carry out the process manually.

This is why DevOps is still a work in progress. When we start to understand where we are and what our place is in the workflow, we become more readily freed up to start solving real business problems and unleashing creativity. Well executed DevOps practices hinge around a core appreciation of this reality and require less people, because systems run more efficiently.

The importance of workflow management
In the past decade or so that DevOps has existed in its current form, there has been much industry discussion around its effectiveness. Over this time, we have learnt many of the core change management lessons being tabled back in the age of the mainframe. The difference now is that the web is ubiquitous and the cloud is democratically pervasive. This is generally a good thing, but brings with it new responsibilities.

This means that anybody and everybody can deploy to the cloud, which makes things more complicated at the surface level. In the distributed computing world of cloud, well-orchestrated DevOps with intelligent workflow management has to be in place, or companies risk flying blind.

It’s a bit like the over-engineering that old-school drivers complain about when they look at modern car engines. You used to be able to get your hands dirty and tinker with the mechanics, but you can’t do that anymore. If we’re going to drive software forward now on a more sophisticated internal combustion engine, then we need to have protocols and processing in place to be able to deal with that level of higher engineering. In other words, the cloud raises the importance of intelligent workflow management.

The final hurdle for DevOps
In 2021, if there is one area for improvement, DevOps requires better tooling for insight into the whole development and operations process. If organizations are serious about focusing on people, rather than the actual technology, we must address the systems of work that bring employees together across the DevOps cycle. The focus should be firmly placed on building cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams that can learn and grow together. The implementation of cross-team communication is now more important than ever as we continue to work remotely during the pandemic in widely dispersed teams.

This is the last mile that DevOps has yet to travel. This is the route to being able to gather code artefacts and comply with all the required levels of governance and auditing. Bringing employees together in this way will mean companies can contain, corral and coalesce all the creativity that great software development teams have the potential to deliver.

DevOps has come a long way in terms of closing the gap between software development and IT operations. But the final piece of the jigsaw for DevOps is people. Before considering what the software does or how powerful it is, it’s important to ask where the people fit in. Fostering a company culture that breeds collaboration and delivers cross-functional communication is a crucial part of this last step. Once cross-functional teams have been established, then companies can strike the perfect balance needed to deliver an effective DevOps program which is fit for purpose.

Source:-https://www.calcalistech.com “One of the main factors of the digital transformation in the medical field is the cloud. Many thought that […]

Source:-https://www.calcalistech.com

“One of the main factors of the digital transformation in the medical field is the cloud. Many thought that the coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines would arrive much later, but this is yet another example of how computing power and data convergence has allowed vaccine developers to get to the stage where they were able to produce the vaccines very quickly. This is due to cloud technology and its unlimited power,” said Roi Hermoni, ATU Lead at Microsoft-Israel during a Calcalist panel at a conference titled “How to succeed during a transitional period.”

According to Hermoni, health organizations are now focused on three main fields: the first is the relationship with the patient, providing a dynamic platform that allows a 360 degree view of the patient’s condition and is a main building block in digital health; the second is communication between medical teams that allows a continuation of treatment without having things falling through the cracks, with all the personal data being stored in a secure and documented way; and the last is making use of the compiled data in a much sophisticated way.

Dr. Ravit Geva, who manages the Oncology Research Unit at Tel Aviv’s Sourasky Medical Center said that technological developments are especially important during the coronavirus period, and that medical teams are overcoming their fear of technology. “We always had the ability to communicate with patients remotely instead of in the hospital, but during the pandemic we learned to use that technology well,” Geva said.

According to her, now that meetings are held remotely, medical teams are meeting more often, which allows them to collaborate with more people. “Today we are talking about how we can collaborate with other hospitals and have medical debates over quality care, and extend that to include debates with professionals overseas as well,” she said. Geva noted that aside from the technological advancements of digital consultations with patients there has also been an increase in the level of personal care. “Patients who for many years had grown accustomed to coming to the hospital are now being treated in their own personal space, where they’re comfortable, and feel relaxed. Suddenly, meeting with patients has become more intimate,” she said.

Co-founder and VP of R&D at Aidoc, Guy Reiner, said that the field they operate in — Radiology, had suffered from an overabundance of data prior to the pandemic without enough radiologists to process the large amounts of medical scans.

“Before the pandemic, this was a field where people knew how to work remotely but the main problem was that there was too much existing data, and this is where our product shines – it’s a system that automatically filters through 80% of a hospital’s CT scans, prioritizes them, and alerts doctors. If we know how to bring data and make it accessible for doctors at exactly the right times, it increases the quality of medical care that the patient receives, and allows doctors to focus on more important things to make them even more efficient,” Reiner said.

Source:-https://devops.com Companies that are working toward optimizing DevOps processes have over the past few years adopted a practice of testing […]

Source:-https://devops.com

Companies that are working toward optimizing DevOps processes have over the past few years adopted a practice of testing throughout the software application design, development and production phases—a practice of continuous testing throughout the product life cycle. This includes shifting testing operations “left,” i.e. beginning testing earlier in the life cycle, to catch any software malfunctions or errors as early in development as possible.

While shifting testing left is critical when it comes to reducing the cost of late-stage software corrections, DevOps teams must also remember that software malfunctions may arise at any stage in the development process, as well as post-production.

The Early Bird Gets the (Software) Bug
Continuously testing software throughout the product life cycle is a strategy used to optimize DevOps processes. Continuously testing software from design to production throughout its life cycle provides DevOps teams with an uninterrupted flow of software testing data. DevOps teams can use this data to inform software design and development based on the performance successes and failures of previous and existing products.

Shifting testing left—earlier in the software development cycle—enables companies to catch as many software errors as early as possible to avoid potentially costly redesigns in later-stage development. Shifting left was a crucial area of focus for many of the companies featured in the recent “Forrester Wave for Continuous Functional Test Automation” (CFTA).

Shifting testing left significantly not only reduces the overall cost of software development but also hastens time to market. DevOps teams can avoid a back-and-forth pattern, or context switching, which involves switching between developing various features of the software as they are tested and verified. Context switching to test various software functions also risks fatiguing and frustrating software developers, as they may be forced to repeatedly revisit and redesign certain software features when they could be focusing on more critical aspects of the product. When DevOps teams are burdened with tight deadlines, they may end up cutting corners, creating more risk for errors that may present themselves to the product’s end user.

Late-Stage Testing: Removing the Rest of the Bugs
However, just because a software application works in its current testing environment doesn’t mean it is unbreakable. How many times have you seen a product such as a dishwasher or a fridge operate perfectly in the store during a demonstration, only to get it home and discover it doesn’t fit or the power cable doesn’t reach the same power outlet as the old machine? How many times have you ordered a product, even one that you’ve used countless times before, and opened the packaging to discover it was broken or had some kind of defect? In the same vein, how many times have you ordered an electronic device that required a charger or electronic port type that you or your computer did not possess? It’s not exactly the great end user experience product design teams had in mind when they were designing the product. For DevOps teams that neglect shift-right testing, that’s exactly the negative end user experience they are risking with their software products.

Shifting DevOps testing right, also referred to as “testing in-production,” is the opposite of shifting left. Shifting right involves testing software later in the product life cycle in late-stage development and even as far as production. This strategy enables DevOps teams to identify and fix bugs that may only arise after shift-left corrections have been made. In other words, if a DevOps team uses shift-left testing to catch bugs earlier, they will then go in and correct those errors. But how do they know that more bugs won’t arise in the production environment? That’s where shifting right comes in. In this respect, shifting left and shifting right are critical aspects of a continuous testing strategy that should be used together to perfect software validation processes.

Shift-right testing also helps to enable a seamless end user experience. A company’s test environment and end user environment may not be exactly the same. When applications are deployed to different cloud or on-premises environments than those in which they were tested, it’s nearly impossible to predict how those varying environments will affect the performance of the product.

Even if the end user environment and testing environments are the same, it’s an unfortunate but inevitable fact of life that things break. Unless software companies are truly continuously testing their products, which includes production phases, they will fail to identify and fix any bugs before their customers can point them out. While customers appreciate rapid fixes when they point out an issue, it’s a poor substitute for a product that customers never have any problems with. Companies and DevOps teams that hope to perfect software development processes are embracing a continuous testing strategy, also known as DevTestOps, and they should be careful not to turn a blind eye to the post release part of the software development life cycle by ignoring the importance of shifting testing right. While shifting left and shifting right are separate strategies, they should not be viewed as mutually exclusive and DevOps and testing teams must work together to develop the best products possible while simultaneously eliminating the need for back-and-forth development and testing patterns.

If companies truly hope to fully optimize DevOps processes, they must embrace a practice of truly continuous testing that spans the entirety of the product life cycle from design through production. Ultimately, this not only enables developers to close the loop on their development cycle to develop more robust, effective applications, but it also provides the competitive advantage of a faster-time-to-market.

We should be best at what a company can accomplish. We’ll discover huge loads of things all around the world. In any case, we need to comprehend the abilities between the employees, applications, and devices utilized within any company. The present most moving subject is DevOps which plays a crucial part in the account of progress making. Utilizing DevOps, developers can contribute their opportunities to work all the more intimately with activities and different groups.

The finding of the ‘State of DevOps’ report shows that the ability to create and deliver software efficiently and accurately is a key differentiator and value driver for all companies— for-benefit, not-for-profit, educational, and government organizations alike. If a company needs to provide value, regardless of how they measure it, DevOps is the best approach.

Another study on ‘The State of IT Modernization’ by IDG uncovered that only 26% of the companies have finished their underlying phases of IT modernization, yet they also are seeing critical effects on business operations. The advantages that they are harvesting incorporate improved quality of service, cost savings, better customer experience/satisfaction, creation of new revenue-generating products and services, and uptime.

Significant Benefit of DevOps
Improves Development Focus

There are two different ways to produce for a release: a major delivery, bundling a feature into one deployment, or a quick delivery, where features roll out one at a time. If you have a major release, odds are you are stressed over organizing an extensive rundown of features that go into that release since you presumably can’t change that rundown too much once you begin. Furthermore, if you do roll out extreme improvements, at that point you need to consider the work that’s already been done when you start to make changes. All the features of a release get tangled together.

Then again, you can drastically improve how you organize your work if you downsize the amount of work that you do at a given time. Every day or week, your team addresses one feature and packs developing and releasing into a fluid system. In the case of something turning out badly, you only have one thing to look at, dissimilar to in a major release, where you could sit around idly figuring out different issues.

Agility

One of the main DevOps benefits is the agility it brings to the table. For instance, in case you’re taking a look at it from the viewpoint of the development group, agility comes from near-instant feedback from clients and the capacity to rapidly turnaround improved code. While those outcomes won’t be completed until operations deploy them, agility relies upon activities catching the feedback and imparting it to development quickly so they can make changes on the spot.

Agility relies on the strength of this cooperative relationship, which is straightforwardly needy upon how proficiently the two groups play out their tasks and speak with one another. When the two teams utilize similar tools and platforms, it separates many of the barriers between them. In any event, something as straightforward as destroying departmental silos and building up a shared language prompts a faster, more flexible workflow.

DevOps’ agile methodology assists organizations with combatting crucial difficulties, for example, increased competition, supplier instability, unpredictable market conditions, and regulatory changes. The fast-moving practice makes it simple to break down and react to these progressions rapidly and is crucial to maintaining a competitive edge.

High Cooperation between Groups (Business/Dev/Ops)

Today, more than ever before, development teams need to separate their inter-departmental silos and team up and communicate in a dynamic, nonstop environment. DevOps prepares to improve business agility by giving the much–needed air of mutual collaboration, communication, and integration across universally circulated teams in an IT company. The prior sets limits dependent on jobs are getting obscured in quite an empowering DevOps climate. All colleagues, together, are answerable for meeting the quality and timeliness of deliverables.

Risk Mitigation

Risk is recognizable to anybody in IT operations. Part of the expected set of responsibilities is dealing with the steady threat of disruptions and deferrals brought about by undetected development blunders. Those “imperceptible” mistakes present a gigantic financial danger for the business, from efficiency misfortunes to shutdowns that drive customers somewhere else.

By breaking the development cycle into smaller tasks, rollback or resolution can be almost instantaneous. Thus, teams can lessen and even kill hazards as they work through the cycle.

Customer Satisfaction

A customer is fulfilled when his time and needs are valued, which can be achieved through an agile approach of DevOps that offers prompt feedback in light of the fact that a disappointed client will incline toward changing to another application and no organization will want to lose its clients. Accordingly, DevOps guarantees countless fulfilled clients, which will boost the popularity of your product

Intensified Productivity and Reduced Costde

Different advantages to tally include increased productivity and time efficiency. As the input will offer the requirements and issues faced by the significant clients, efficiency floods. Moreover, these enhancements in the productivity engines will ascend in lesser time, bringing about time effectiveness, which will reduce down the expense ultimately.

Source:-https://www.prweb.com Emerging growth companies do not have the luxury of investing hundreds of millions to make their developers as productive […]

Source:-https://www.prweb.com

Emerging growth companies do not have the luxury of investing hundreds of millions to make their developers as productive as Google or Facebook developers. This means that emerging growth company developers are typically spending less than 20% of their time coding. Further, research by DORA shows only 20% of all companies have reached the highest level of DevOps maturity, allowing them to deliver software quickly and reliably.

Many companies create a DevOps team as a pathway to improvement. This DevOps team typically end up maintaining existing tools and knit them together via custom code, with little or no time available for process improvements due to the maintenance burden. The result are brittle, inflexible integrations. Just as no company would consider building its own accounting software, no company should consider building their own custom DevOps environment. The time has come to take a platform approach for DevOps to allow developers to code more, release more, and to decrease the financial burden of maintaining and connecting DevOps silos.

Most emerging growth companies are focused on customer experience, product excellence, operations, and financial performance. Critical to all of these efforts is the speed with which code can be moved into production Ideally, an emerging growth company would unify all current development silos (code repositories and tools such as Jenkins) within a standard platform, quickly leading to in continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous unified analytics.

What should an emerging growth company look for in a DevOps platform to dramatically improve performance? According to Robert Boyd, CTO at Calculi the makers of Guide-Rails, the following should be considered when adopting a DevOps platform.

Continuous Testing:
Building testing into the process in a centralized and standardized way prevents what is traditionally a cross-departmental bottleneck for many organizations, allowing higher quality software to be deployed more frequently. Integration testing where systems or pipelines are sharable is a vital capability.

Cloud Deployment Management:
When business requirements call for a different public/private/hybrid deployment target, the technology should provide this capability. Simplifying this step with infrastructure as code and built-in cloud compatibility so that developers can easily deploy to their desired target brings agility to the business.

Integrated DevSecOps and Compliance:
Efforts to build appropriate policy can be completed many times over, but actual enforcement becomes a challenge. Integrating and automating DevSecOps and policy into the software delivery process makes compliance simple and easy for developers. For example, integrating security scans to run automatically early in the process is an excellent alternative to having them at the end, where developers may just skip them to save time.

Information Accessible to Developers:
Fast, quick, and easy feedback to the in-process information developers need should be made available in a consistent, easy to view interface. Simplifying the day-to-day developer experience while sharing information across teams speeds up issue resolution, improves collaboration between departments and allows developers to focus and write code.

Unified Visibility:
Making one source of truth in data available to all the different individuals enables conversations that are much more productive. Process improvement, team management and departmental collaboration all areas that can benefit. With any digital transformation, this one capability can be the difference between success and failure.

A Platform Foundation:
A pre-built platform will speed up the ability to automate from end-to-end, then also allow for changes down the road. This means the DevOps team does not have to worry about knitting together point solutions or changing deployment targets; they can focus on higher order value delivery.

In summary, CTO’s need to consider a DevOps platform approach to improve performance by providing developers with a fully integrated means to continuously develop and deploy code. Emerging growth companies need a means by which company policies can be adhered to within the code without undue burden. Management needs continuous reporting, anytime and anyplace, across all developers and pipelines. Only a centralized platform, whether on premises or in the cloud, will meet these needs.
