Friends as you already know that software development is a very huge and heavy process. There are so many innumerable moving parts of it. In order to improve the development process, we utilize the methodology of DevOps and its tools. In DevOps, there are so many phases. This is one of the most favorable phases as continuous integration which is willing to help you in coming all together with the parts of software development and manages all of them. Therefore, there is a very popular tool named ‘Jenkins’.

Jenkins is an open-source automation tool. Now, we will learn about continuous integration and using it in Jenkins. It is a phase of DevOps in which we are continuously doing integrate all of your software development processes in parts and take parts to combine all together. Well, we say combine but it actually controls through continuous integration.

What are the benefits of Jenkins?

Take a brief history of Jenkins. Jenkins was originally developed in 2004 by the sun microsystems company under the name Hudson. It had slowly gained popularity and had become one of the best developing tools out there. After this, the project was later named Jenkins when oracle bought microsystems and decided to keep Hudson & Jenkins as separate entities. It is now one of the most popular CI/CD tools in use out there. As we can see certain benefits are associated with:

Jenkins is a community tool – its open source and has a very large community that contributes to it regularly.

Its free so you don’t have to accrue anymore subscription costs

Easy for the developers to find and fix issues.

Improves code quality, minimize defects.

Why we should learn Jenkins?

After getting the benefits of Jenkins. Now, looking for the learning process. We are learning for using it. We use it for seeing widely use through DevOps team, build and release teams, and dev teams. Due to it provides feedback loop back to the developer and fix the errors. It developer has fresh in the memory for quick error. It can publish every build of your software and has already gone through automation testing. Further uses associates with this such as easy interface, easy to navigate, easy document and example, free and open-source, plugin and functionality, and users around the world.

How our Jenkins course/training would help?

Through the course tutorial, we get intact knowledge and practices that help you in working along with the Jenkins. It allows you to create build jobs on certain kinds of projects such as freestyle projects, pipelines, multi-configuration projects, multi-branch pipelines, folders, and GitHub organizations. After this we are getting benefitted from tutorials in two items, one is the Jenkins freestyle job it comes under many configures as general, source code management, build triggers, build environment, build, and post-build actions. Another is the pipeline, it comes with certain stages as CI/CD pipeline, Jenkins file, and Jenkins pipeline. I hope this will make you clearer to understand about the tool, their automation process, and software development process connections with different phases by using different plugins depending upon your needs.

To knowing DevOps. First, you have to understand DevOps. But today we are not going to put some definitions. Now we are willing to understand the whole concept of DevOps professionals. We are going to discuss every aspect of DevOps professionals. We have to understand the old days of software delivery. How you were consuming the software in old days. Actually, you were using multiple software in the back years like the 19th century includes 95, 97, and 98. Now, we are seeing many sorts of applications concerning delivering performance in new days. We have seen so many times of using applications by users through downloading and installation process.

Now, come to the point, we are talking about DevOps. The meaning of DevOps is development and operations collaboration which is done by software teams. By development of software. How it can redefine the whole automation of the software industry? It enhances your mindset for software development. There are many assumptions along with software operations. By the development of software. We take the following steps like manipulating software through engineers from one phase to another and by checking the functions of applications that are out to date and up to date.

What are the benefits of DevOps professionals?

Source:-https://siliconangle.com/

Google LLC today outlined a range of new compliance and security certifications for Google Cloud as part of a commitment to act as a “security transformation partner and to be the most trusted cloud.”

The new certifications include the addition of Cloud DNS to Google Cloud’s list of Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program compliant products along with additional government and security compliance certifications across Canada, Europe and Asia.

FedRAMP is a U.S. governmentwide program designed to standardize security assessment, authorization and monitoring for cloud products and services offered to federal government agencies. The goal of the program is to make sure that federal data is consistently protected at a high level in the cloud.

With the addition of Cloud DNS as a FedRAMP certified offering, Google is aiming to allow U.S. public sector customers to leverage a broader set of Google Cloud technologies with the assurance they’re meeting the highest level of civilian classification. Customers that wish to take advantage of the support can leverage Assured Workloads for Government, a service that allows Google Cloud Platform customers to quickly and easily create controlled environments where U.S. data location and personnel access controls are enforced.

The service also supports compliance with the U.S. Department of Defense, the Federal Bureau of Investigations Criminal Justice Information Services Division and FedRAMP High requirements. The supported compliance regimes are currently in beta testing and will be generally available later this month.

APAC protection
Google’s commitment to compliance and requirements extends beyond the U.S. to Asia-Pacific countries with Google Cloud working with various public sector agencies in the region to help them understand their compliance requirements and shared responsibilities.

In India, Google Cloud, in conjunction with India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has been audited on its conformance with the requirements of MeitY empanelment (registration) and successfully passed. In Japan, a similar process has taken place with registration for the country’s Information System Security Management and Assessment Program, a Japanese government system for assessing the security of cloud service providers to participate in public sector projects.

South to Australia, Google Cloud has obtained certification through the Australian Signals Directorate’s Information Security Registered Assessor’s Program framework, which assesses the implementation and effectiveness of an organization’s security controls against the Australian government’s security requirements.

In southeast Asia, Google has published Google Cloud GR 71 mapping to help public sector customers in Indonesia evaluate their GR 71 compliance as it relates to their use of Google Cloud services. GR 71 is a local law that regulates the activities of electronic system operators, generally defined as any person, government administrator, business entity, or member of society that provides, administers, and/or operates an electronic system individually or collectively for users. In Thailand, Google has gained compliance with the Information Security Standard for Meeting Control Systems.

In Europe, Google has also received attestations of compliance with the German Federal Office for Information Security’s Cloud Computing Compliance Criteria Catalogue for GCP and Google Workspace.

“In addition to public sector compliance, we continue to maintain our industry-leading audits and certifications for customers, including recertification of our compliance against ISO/IEC 27001/27017/27018 and SOC 1/2/3,” Mike Daniels, vice president Google’s Global Public Sector, wrote in a blog post. “We also recently added Apigee certificates for BSI C5, PCI-DSS, and SOC 1/2/3, as well as the AppSheet SOC 2 report, to our self-serve portal.”

Google Cloud introduced two new credentials targeting technical leaders and DevOps engineers: the invitation-only Google Cloud Certified Fellow programme focused on Anthos expertise, and the Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification for demonstrating operational excellence.

Source: itbrief.co.nz (original reporting, February 2020)

Google Cloud Expands Its Certification Portfolio

Google Cloud announced two new certifications aimed at addressing real-world skills gaps in enterprise cloud adoption: the Google Cloud Certified Fellow programme for senior technical leaders, and the Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification for practitioners focused on reliability and delivery velocity. Together, the two credentials cover opposite ends of the cloud career ladder — strategic leadership and hands-on engineering.

Google Cloud Certified Fellow: Recognition for Anthos Experts

The Google Cloud Certified Fellow programme is an invitation-only credential designed for technical leaders who have demonstrated deep expertise in designing enterprise solutions on Anthos, Google’s open hybrid and multi-cloud application platform. It is not a self-service exam that anyone can register for; candidates must be nominated and then pass a series of rigorous assessments.

What the Assessment Involves

Hands-on labs that test practical Anthos skills in realistic scenarios

A panel interview with Google Cloud product and engineering leadership

Evaluation of the candidate’s ability to lead organisations through hybrid and multi-cloud adoption

At the time of the announcement, twenty IT leaders had already earned the Certified Fellow designation and were actively applying those skills within their organisations.

What Certified Fellows Gain

Industry recognition as a proven Anthos and hybrid-cloud expert

Access to a peer network of other Certified Fellows

Direct engagement with Google Cloud product and engineering teams

A platform to contribute knowledge back to the broader cloud community

“The Certified Fellow exam pushed my understanding of Anthos’ capabilities, and the certification provides me with the platform to help educate the community about the latest technology and inspire people to become better engineers.”
— Chris Love, Principal Architect at LionKube and Google Cloud Certified Fellow

“I am proud of the recognition for my skill level from Google Cloud and my clients value the mastery it demonstrates. Having representation in the Certified Fellow Program reinforces Accenture’s commitment to Cloud innovation and to our continued Google Cloud partnership.”
— Zach Snee, Cloud Solutions Architect at Accenture and Google Cloud Certified Fellow

Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer: A Certification for Practitioners

Unlike the Certified Fellow programme, the Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification is an open, exam-based credential available to any DevOps professional who wants to validate their skills on Google Cloud. It targets engineers responsible for balancing service reliability with development speed — two tensions at the core of modern site reliability engineering (SRE) and DevOps practice.

Why This Certification Matters

The cloud skills shortage makes it difficult for hiring managers to quickly identify qualified candidates. A vendor-neutral job title like “DevOps Engineer” can encompass vastly different experience levels and tooling backgrounds. A Google Cloud-specific certification gives employers a concrete, verifiable signal that a candidate understands Google Cloud’s operations tooling, CI/CD patterns, and reliability practices.

For engineers, the certification provides a structured learning path and a portable credential that demonstrates expertise in:

Efficient development operations on Google Cloud

Service reliability engineering principles

Delivery speed and deployment pipeline best practices

Monitoring, logging, and incident response on Google Cloud infrastructure

How the Two Certifications Compare

Feature

Google Cloud Certified Fellow

Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer

Access

Invitation-only

Open registration

Primary audience

Senior technical leaders

DevOps / SRE practitioners

Core focus

Anthos, hybrid & multi-cloud strategy

CI/CD, reliability, delivery speed

Assessment format

Hands-on labs + panel interview

Exam-based

Community benefit

Peer network, Google engineering access

Industry-recognised credential

What This Means for DevOps Teams

For organisations running workloads on Google Cloud — or evaluating a move to Anthos for hybrid or multi-cloud deployments — these certifications provide a practical hiring and talent-development framework. Engineering managers can use the Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer credential as a benchmark when evaluating candidates or building internal training programmes. For individual contributors, it represents a clear and achievable professional development goal with direct market value.

For staff aspiring to architecture or principal engineering roles, understanding the Certified Fellow programme sets a longer-term goal that also provides a deep incentive to master Anthos and enterprise hybrid-cloud design — skills that remain in high demand regardless of which cloud certifications a team pursues.

Redis CMO Howard Ting discusses the launch of RedisInsight and the Redis developer certification programme, shares observations on microservices-driven database proliferation, and explains why automation is central to a genuine DevOps mindset.

This article is based on an interview originally published by DevOps Online with Howard Ting, then-CMO at Redis. The original post appeared on BestDevOps on 17 January 2020.

Background: Two Announcements from Redis

Towards the end of 2019, Redis made two announcements aimed squarely at its developer community. The first was the release of RedisInsight, a free GUI tool that lets developers manipulate, visualise, and analyse data stored in Redis without leaving a graphical interface. The second was the launch of a Redis Developer Certification Programme, designed to formally recognise proficiency in building applications with Redis.

Howard Ting, Redis’s CMO at the time, spoke to DevOps Online about the reasoning behind both initiatives and shared his broader views on database architecture trends and the DevOps mindset.

Why a Developer Certification?

The certification was conceived as a way to bring consistency and credibility to the Redis ecosystem. Ting explained the core motivation:

“It’s about bringing more consistency and credibility for Redis developers. When someone is looking to hire a developer, they will know that with this certification, they have at least a bare minimum level of credibility and expertise.”
Howard Ting, CMO, Redis

The exam covers the topics Redis considers foundational for effective development:

Data structures – understanding Redis’s native types (strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets, streams, and more)

Data modelling – how to structure data appropriately for Redis rather than forcing relational patterns onto a key-value store

Best practices – patterns for reliability, key naming, eviction policies, and client usage

Database setup and optimisation – configuration tuning for a given use case

The exam is 90 minutes long, taken online, and is proctored to ensure the credential carries genuine weight. Redis indicated the programme would evolve based on community feedback over time.

Industry Trend: From One Database per Thousand Apps to One App with Many Databases

Ting offered a striking framing of how the database landscape has changed in the microservices era:

“20 years ago we had one database supporting 1,000 applications. Now we have one application that might have 1,000 databases.”
Howard Ting, CMO, Redis

This inversion reflects the polyglot persistence approach that has become common in cloud-native architecture. As microservices decompose monolithic applications into independent, loosely coupled services, each service can—and often should—choose the database type best suited to its specific data access patterns. A session store might use Redis, a product catalogue might use a document database, and financial ledger data might live in a relational database, all within a single application.

The explosion of Kubernetes as a deployment platform has accelerated this trend, making it operationally feasible to run many different stateful services side by side at scale.

Performance Engineering: Design for Elasticity First

On the question of performance and debugging, Ting’s advice centred on understanding the elasticity profile of an application before choosing where data should live:

Highly elastic applications – workloads with large, unpredictable usage spikes need databases that can absorb sudden load. In-memory databases such as Redis are well-suited here because reads and writes happen at memory speed.

Predictable, steady-state applications – workloads with consistent throughput have more flexibility in storage tier selection, and the cost advantages of disk-backed storage become more relevant.

Ting also pointed to an emerging two-tier data model that he expected to become standard:

Hot tier – fast-moving, frequently accessed data stored in DRAM or fast SSDs. Persistent memory (technologies that behave close to DRAM speed at lower cost per GB) was highlighted as a growing option here.

Cold/archival tier – slower-moving or historical data stored on traditional disk or flash-backed databases in the back end.

The practical takeaway for developers designing data-intensive, highly personalised, or real-time reactive applications is to start with an in-memory database as the primary data layer rather than retrofitting one later.

Optimising Data Management: Pick the Right Tool and Plan Long Term

Ting distilled data management advice into two principles:

Pick the right tool for the job. No single database is optimal for every access pattern. Evaluate whether your data’s characteristics—size, access frequency, query complexity, latency requirements—align with the database you are considering.

Plan for where the application is going, not just where it is today. Ting warned against choosing a solution that creates a dead end, forcing a complete application refactor once scale or data model requirements change. He encouraged thinking in multi-year horizons when evaluating platforms.

DevOps and Automation: The Core Infrastructure Must Be Stable

Asked how Redis itself was applying DevOps principles internally, Ting’s answer was grounded in the relationship between automation and developer velocity:

“It’s just not intuitive of the DevOps mindset to continue to deploy new features and capabilities quickly [without stable infrastructure]. You want to have the core infrastructure be as stable, solid, robust, and resilient as possible.”
Howard Ting, CMO, Redis

The argument is straightforward: if teams are manually handling routine operational tasks—sizing, deployment, upgrades, scaling, and recovery—those are human cycles that cannot be spent on higher-value work. Automating the mundane creates the headroom that allows continuous delivery to function sustainably.

This is a commonly cited principle in the DevOps community, and it aligns with the broader industry push towards infrastructure as code, self-healing systems, and operator patterns for managing stateful workloads in Kubernetes environments. Redis has invested in managed cloud offerings and Kubernetes operators to push operational complexity down the stack, away from application developers.

Key Takeaways for DevOps and Platform Engineers

Polyglot persistence is not a trend to resist—it is a natural consequence of microservices decomposition. Plan your platform to support multiple database types.

Design your data tier around your application’s elasticity profile. High-variability workloads benefit disproportionately from in-memory storage.

A two-tier hot/cold data architecture is a pragmatic way to balance cost against latency requirements as persistent memory options mature.

Automating infrastructure operations (scaling, recovery, upgrades) is a prerequisite for sustainable continuous delivery, not an optional enhancement.

Developer certification programmes can raise hiring confidence in communities built around open-source tools—but verify what a specific certification actually tests before treating it as a proxy for seniority.

Cloud adoption is accelerating, and certified AWS developers are in high demand. Here is what the AWS Certified Developer – Associate certification covers, who it is for, and why it can meaningfully advance your career.

Cloud adoption continues to accelerate across organizations of every size, yet a persistent skills gap makes it difficult for many teams to take full advantage of what cloud platforms offer. For developers who want to close that gap—and signal their expertise to employers—an AWS certification is one of the most recognized paths available.

Why AWS Certifications Stand Out

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is widely regarded as one of the leading public cloud platforms, with one of the broadest service catalogs in the industry. AWS offers a structured certification program that spans foundational, associate, professional, and specialty tiers, giving practitioners a clear progression path regardless of their starting point.

Unlike some vendor certification programs that demand expensive, proprietary training before you can even sit an exam, AWS certifications are designed to be accessible to working professionals. You do not need to leave your current role to prepare, and the exam blueprints clearly map to real-world job tasks.

What Is the AWS Certified Developer – Associate Exam?

The AWS Certified Developer – Associate certification targets developers who build, deploy, and debug cloud-based applications on AWS. It sits at the associate tier—the first tier above foundational—and is a logical next step after you have a basic understanding of core AWS concepts.

The exam tests your ability to:

Design and develop applications using AWS services and APIs

Deploy applications using AWS managed services such as Elastic Beanstalk and CloudFormation

Implement security controls, authentication, and authorization on AWS

Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize applications running on AWS infrastructure

Work with core services including Amazon S3, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Lambda, and API Gateway

Prerequisites and Recommended Background

AWS does not enforce formal prerequisites, but candidates typically benefit from having the following before attempting the exam:

Familiarity with core AWS services, ideally from completing AWS Cloud Practitioner or AWS Essentials training (or equivalent hands-on experience)

Experience developing applications that consume REST or API-based interfaces

A working understanding of both relational and non-relational databases

General software development skills in at least one programming language supported by the AWS SDKs (Python, Java, Node.js, .NET, Go, etc.)

If you are already building applications day-to-day and have touched AWS services—even informally—you likely have more of this background than you realize.

Key AWS Services Covered

Preparation for this certification gives you practical exposure to the services developers interact with most frequently on AWS:

Amazon S3 – Object storage, versioning, lifecycle policies, and access control

Amazon DynamoDB – NoSQL database design, partitioning, and query patterns

Amazon SQS & SNS – Message queuing and pub/sub notification patterns

AWS Lambda – Serverless compute, event sources, and function configuration

AWS Elastic Beanstalk – Managed application deployment and environment configuration

AWS CloudFormation – Infrastructure as Code templates and stack management

Amazon API Gateway – Building and securing RESTful and WebSocket APIs

AWS IAM – Identity management, roles, and least-privilege access policies

Career Benefits of Becoming AWS Developer Associate Certified

Certification delivers value on several fronts:

Credibility with employers – The credential demonstrates validated knowledge of AWS best practices in architecture, security, and deployment, which hiring managers can quickly verify.

Broader role eligibility – Many job postings for cloud developer, DevOps engineer, and solutions architect roles list AWS certification as a preferred or required qualification.

Structured knowledge foundation – The exam blueprint forces systematic study of services you may only partially understand from day-to-day work, filling in important gaps.

Path to higher-tier certifications – Associate-level certification is the natural gateway to the Professional and Specialty tiers, including the AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional and AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional.

It is worth being realistic: certification alone does not replace hands-on experience, and compensation differences depend heavily on role, location, and the skills you bring beyond the exam. The credential is a signal, not a guarantee.

Staying Current: Recertification

AWS updates its services and exam content regularly. To reflect this, all AWS certifications expire and require renewal. Certification holders must recertify to keep their credential active—either by passing a recertification exam or by earning a higher-tier certification in the same domain. Check the official AWS Certification site for current recertification policies, as timelines and options can change.

Getting Started

If you are new to AWS, begin with the free-tier account to get hands-on with the services listed above before attempting the exam. AWS provides official exam guides and sample questions through its certification portal. Supplement with structured training—whether self-paced video courses, instructor-led workshops, or practice labs—to build both conceptual understanding and the hands-on fluency the exam rewards.

The AWS Certified Developer – Associate certification is a well-scoped, achievable credential for working developers. It validates the skills organizations need as they deepen their cloud footprint, and it gives you a documented, vendor-recognized foundation to build on throughout your cloud career.

An overview of the DevOps Certification Service market, covering key segments, regional dynamics, competitive landscape, and the factors driving demand for certified DevOps professionals and training providers.

This article draws on publicly available information about the DevOps certification services industry. It was prompted by a market research summary originally sourced from theanalyticsnews.com and attributed to Transparency Market Research (TMR). No proprietary report data has been reproduced here.

What Is the DevOps Certification Service Market?

The DevOps Certification Service market encompasses organizations and platforms that provide training courses, examinations, and credentials related to DevOps practices. This includes certification bodies, online learning platforms, corporate training vendors, and consulting firms that help engineers, managers, and organizations validate DevOps competency.

As enterprises accelerate digital transformation initiatives, demand for certified DevOps practitioners has grown steadily. Certifications signal verified knowledge of continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), infrastructure as code, site reliability engineering (SRE), and related disciplines to employers and clients.

Key Market Segments

The DevOps certification services market can be broken down along several dimensions:

By Certification Type

Regional Market Overview

Demand for DevOps certification services is distributed globally, with adoption patterns shaped by technology maturity, enterprise IT spending, and the availability of skilled talent pools. Key regions include:

North America (U.S. and Canada) – The largest market, driven by high enterprise cloud adoption, a mature IT services sector, and strong demand from financial services, healthcare, and technology companies.

Western Europe (Germany, U.K., France, and others) – Significant growth fueled by GDPR-driven digital modernization programs and a large pool of existing ITIL/Agile-certified professionals transitioning to DevOps frameworks.

Asia Pacific (China, India, Japan, ASEAN, Australia, and New Zealand) – The fastest-growing region, led by India’s large IT services export industry and increasing cloud adoption across Southeast Asia.

Latin America (Brazil, Mexico, and others) – An emerging market with growing interest among technology outsourcing hubs.

Eastern Europe (Poland, Russia, and others) – A notable software development and outsourcing presence drives demand for internationally recognized DevOps credentials.

Middle East and Africa – Growth concentrated in GCC countries undergoing large-scale digital transformation programs.

Market Growth Drivers

Several structural factors sustain demand for DevOps certification services:

Accelerating cloud migration – Organizations moving workloads to public and hybrid cloud environments need engineers who can operate CI/CD pipelines, manage infrastructure as code, and work with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.

Talent shortages – The gap between demand for skilled DevOps engineers and available supply incentivizes both individuals and employers to invest in formal certification as a credentialing signal.

Regulatory and compliance requirements – Industries such as financial services, healthcare, and government require demonstrable process maturity, which structured DevOps certifications help evidence.

Rise of platform engineering and SRE roles – Emerging specializations create demand for updated and more advanced certification tracks beyond foundational DevOps credentials.

Remote and hybrid workforce models – The normalization of remote work has expanded access to online certification programs and removed geographic barriers to training.

Competitive Landscape

The DevOps certification services market is fragmented, with competition across multiple layers:

Certification bodies – DevOps Institute, DASA (DevOps Agile Skills Association), Scaled Agile, PEOPLECERT (which administers ITIL), and cloud providers’ own certification programs compete for mindshare and market share among examination candidates.

Training providers – Global systems integrators, specialist DevOps training firms, and online learning platforms all compete on price, content quality, instructor expertise, and exam pass rates.

Toolchain vendors as ecosystem players – Vendors such as GitLab, HashiCorp, Red Hat, and Atlassian run their own certification or badging programs that reinforce loyalty to their toolchains while providing practitioners with verifiable credentials.

Challenges and Restraints

Credential fragmentation – The proliferation of competing certifications makes it difficult for employers to compare candidates and for practitioners to prioritize which credentials to pursue.

Rapid tooling evolution – The DevOps toolchain evolves quickly; certification curricula can lag behind current industry practice, reducing the perceived value of some credentials.

Cost and access barriers – Examination fees, official courseware, and instructor-led training can be expensive, limiting uptake in price-sensitive markets without employer sponsorship.

Skepticism about certification value – Some hiring organizations and practitioners question whether certifications reliably predict on-the-job performance, preferring portfolio evidence and practical assessments.

What Practitioners and Organizations Should Consider

Before investing in DevOps certification programs, engineering leaders and individual practitioners should evaluate the following:

Alignment with job role – Vendor-specific certifications are most valuable when your organization is deeply invested in that vendor’s ecosystem. Vendor-neutral certifications are better for roles that span multiple toolchains or focus on process and culture change.

Market recognition – Research which certifications appear most frequently in job postings within your target role and geography before committing to a program.

Recertification requirements – Some certifications expire within two to three years, creating ongoing cost and time commitments. Factor this into total cost of ownership.

Practical lab components – Certifications that include hands-on labs or practical assessments tend to be more valued by technical hiring managers than purely multiple-choice examinations.

Organizational learning paths – For enterprise teams, structured learning paths that combine foundational and advanced credentials with internal knowledge-sharing programs deliver better ROI than ad-hoc certification purchases.

Summary

The DevOps Certification Service market reflects the broader growth of DevOps adoption across industries and geographies. While the market is competitive and somewhat fragmented, sustained demand from enterprises undergoing digital transformation and from individual practitioners seeking career differentiation continues to drive growth. For practitioners, the most impactful certifications combine conceptual rigor with practical, hands-on validation of skills that map directly to employer needs.

A practical guide to the most valuable cloud computing certifications for IT professionals, covering vendor-neutral options and platform-specific credentials from AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and (ISC)².

If you want to demonstrate expertise in a specific area of cloud technology, earning a recognised certification is one of the most effective ways to do it. Certifications validate that the holder has measurable knowledge and skills — whether for a particular platform, architectural pattern, or security discipline. For cloud computing, the major vendors and independent bodies each maintain their own certification programmes, ranging from foundational credentials to advanced professional-level exams.

For employers, certified staff signal that their workforce can reliably design, operate, and secure cloud workloads. For individuals, certifications open doors to higher-responsibility roles and often correlate with salary increases. Below is an overview of five widely recognised cloud certifications worth considering in 2024 and beyond.

1. CompTIA Cloud Certifications

Approximate exam cost: Cloud Essentials+ ~$119 USD | Cloud+ ~$319 USD

CompTIA offers two vendor-neutral cloud certifications suited to different roles:

CompTIA Cloud Essentials+ — Aimed at business and IT managers, support staff, and decision-makers who need to understand cloud concepts without necessarily implementing solutions themselves. It covers cloud service models, business value, risk, and governance.

CompTIA Cloud+ — Designed for IT practitioners responsible for maintaining and optimising cloud infrastructure. It validates skills in deploying, securing, troubleshooting, and managing cloud environments across multiple platforms.

Because neither certification is tied to a single vendor, they are useful starting points for professionals who work with multiple cloud providers or who want a platform-agnostic credential to complement vendor-specific ones.

2. AWS Certified Solutions Architect

Approximate exam cost: Associate ~$150 USD | Professional ~$300 USD

Amazon Web Services offers one of the most widely recognised certification paths in the industry. The Solutions Architect track has two tiers:

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate — Validates the ability to design and deploy scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on AWS. Candidates are expected to have practical experience selecting appropriate AWS services, managing data ingress and egress, and estimating costs.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional — Targets engineers with two or more years of hands-on experience designing and deploying complex AWS workloads. It covers advanced architectural patterns, migration strategies, and cost optimisation at scale.

Both exams are scenario-based and require real-world familiarity with core AWS services. The Associate credential is a practical first step; the Professional credential signals senior-level competency.

3. Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Approximate exam cost: ~$165 USD per exam (two exams required)

The Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification demonstrates the ability to design end-to-end solutions on Microsoft Azure. Candidates are assessed on their ability to:

Design identity, governance, and monitoring solutions

Architect data storage, compute, and network solutions

Plan and deploy infrastructure, including containers and serverless workloads

Design for business continuity, disaster recovery, and high availability

Earning this credential currently requires passing two associate-level exams (AZ-104 and AZ-305, though Microsoft periodically updates its exam requirements — verify on the official Microsoft Learn site before registering). It is well suited to architects who operate in Microsoft-heavy enterprise environments and need to demonstrate cross-discipline Azure proficiency.

4. Google Professional Cloud Architect

Approximate exam cost: ~$200 USD

Google Cloud’s Professional Cloud Architect certification validates the ability to design, develop, and manage robust, secure, and scalable solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The exam assesses competency across several domains:

Designing and planning a cloud solution architecture

Managing and provisioning cloud infrastructure

Designing for security and compliance

Analysing and optimising technical and business processes

Managing implementation and ensuring solution reliability

This certification is particularly valuable for professionals working with organisations that have standardised on GCP for data analytics, machine learning, or Kubernetes-based workloads, given Google’s strength in those areas.

5. Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)

Approximate exam cost: ~$599 USD

Offered by (ISC)², the Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) credential is the recognised standard for cloud security expertise. Unlike the platform-specific certifications above, the CCSP is vendor-neutral and focuses entirely on the security discipline. It covers:

Cloud concepts, architecture, and design

Cloud data security

Cloud platform and infrastructure security

Cloud application security

Cloud security operations

Legal, risk, and compliance requirements for cloud environments

(ISC)² requires candidates to have at least five years of cumulative paid work experience in IT, with three years in information security and one year in one of the six CCSP domains. Candidates who do not yet meet the experience requirement can earn the credential as an Associate of (ISC)² and satisfy the experience requirement later.

The CCSP is the most rigorous certification on this list and is best suited to security architects, cloud architects with a security focus, and information security managers responsible for securing cloud environments across any provider.

Choosing the Right Certification

The right certification depends on your current role, the cloud platforms your organisation uses, and your career goals. A practical decision framework:

New to cloud or in a non-technical role? Start with CompTIA Cloud Essentials+ or Cloud+.

Building and deploying on AWS? Pursue the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate first.

Working in a Microsoft-centric enterprise? Target the Azure Solutions Architect Expert path.

Using Google Cloud for data or containerised workloads? The Google Professional Cloud Architect credential is the benchmark.

Responsible for security across cloud environments? The CCSP is the most comprehensive vendor-neutral option.

Many cloud engineers hold multiple certifications — for example, pairing a platform-specific credential with the CCSP gives a well-rounded profile for senior roles. Check the official certification pages for current exam objectives, prerequisites, and pricing before registering, as vendors update their programmes regularly.

DevOps is rooted in culture, and no exam can certify that. But recruiters and hiring managers still value certain credentials. Here is an honest look at the pros and cons of pursuing DevOps certifications.

The value of IT certifications has long been a point of debate among technology professionals, and the DevOps community is no exception. Ask ten DevOps engineers whether certifications are worth pursuing and you will get a wide range of answers — from enthusiastic endorsement to outright dismissal.

The split reflects a genuine tension: DevOps is fundamentally about culture, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Those qualities are difficult — arguably impossible — to measure in a multiple-choice exam. Yet hiring managers and HR teams consistently report that certifications help them filter and qualify candidates, especially for tool- or platform-specific roles.

This article draws on perspectives from DevOps practitioners and data originally reported by enterprisersproject.com.

What the Data Says

According to the DevOps Institute’s 2019 Upskilling: Enterprise DevOps Skills Report, the majority of respondents believe certifications have at least some value in a DevOps career. Specifically, Eveline Oehrlich, research director at DevOps Institute and the report’s author, summarised the findings this way:

“From our DevOps upskilling survey, we learned that 15 percent of our respondents think that certifications are very important (must-have) and 49 percent think that certifications are important (nice-to-have).”
Eveline Oehrlich, Research Director, DevOps Institute

That leaves roughly one in three respondents who did not rate certifications as important — a significant minority that should not be ignored when you are weighing the investment of time and money.

There Is No Single “DevOps Certification”

One of the most important things to understand before pursuing any credential is that no single certification defines DevOps competence.

“There is no single DevOps cert or a specific vendor that certifies for ‘DevOps’. There are some generic certifications, but it would be more effective for an IT professional to figure out where they fit in the DevOps chain and certify accordingly.”
Wael Altaqi, Pre-Sales Architect, OpsRamp

Commonly cited credential categories that are relevant to DevOps work include:

Cloud platforms — e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud certifications

Container orchestration — e.g., Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

Configuration management and automation tools — e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Chef, Puppet

Agile and process methodologies — e.g., SAFe, Scrum, ITIL

CI/CD tooling — e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, CloudBees-related credentials

Farid Roshan, head of engineering at Altimetrik, points out a practical challenge: a genuinely holistic DevOps skill set could conceivably require 10 or more distinct credentials, covering organisational culture, architecture, toolchain frameworks, and infrastructure modernisation. No single exam comes close to covering that breadth.

5 Pros of DevOps Certifications

1. They Can Catalyse a Career Change

For professionals moving into DevOps from adjacent IT roles — sysadmin, QA, traditional software development — structured certification coursework provides a recognised starting point. Brian Dawson, DevOps evangelist at CloudBees, notes that certifications and the courses required to earn them can help people transition from other IT disciplines into DevOps roles, even when the job posting itself does not formally require a credential.

Altaqi reinforces this point: certifications can help you “jumpstart or re-invent” your IT career with structured learning. The key is treating the credential as a foundation, not a destination.

2. They Can Boost Pay and Visibility

In-demand certifications — particularly those tied to major cloud platforms — are associated with higher salaries in the broader IT market. Because cloud skills are central to most modern DevOps workflows, cloud certifications carry genuine market value. Beyond compensation, Altaqi notes that holding relevant credentials increases your visibility to recruiters and hiring managers who use certifications as a filtering mechanism.

3. They Help HR Teams Pre-Qualify Candidates

From an organisational standpoint, certifications give HR professionals a standardised signal. Oehrlich reports that the majority of HR professionals she interviewed during the skills report research said they actively look for DevOps-relevant certifications as a way of identifying pre-qualified candidates, particularly when the recruiting team lacks deep technical expertise to evaluate candidates on other grounds.

4. They Let You “Zoom In” on Specific Tools or Processes

Rather than pursuing a generic DevOps credential, a more effective strategy is mapping certifications to the actual technology stack you use or want to use. If your team runs workloads on AWS and orchestrates containers with Kubernetes, then the AWS Certified DevOps Engineer and the Certified Kubernetes Administrator credentials are directly applicable. This targeted approach maximises the practical return on the time you invest in exam preparation — and increases the chances your employer will fund the training.

5. They Provide a Common Framework and Language

Process- and role-oriented credentials — such as those related to Agile or ITIL — establish a shared vocabulary and conceptual framework within a team. Oehrlich explains that this common language can support the kind of behaviour change that DevOps transformations actually require, making these credentials useful beyond the individual who holds them.

5 Cons of DevOps Certifications

1. You Cannot Certify Culture

This is the most fundamental objection to DevOps certifications, and it is a valid one. DevOps is, at its core, about how people collaborate, share responsibility, and continuously improve. A written exam can assess knowledge of a tool’s API or a deployment pipeline pattern, but it cannot assess whether someone can break down organisational silos, build trust across teams, or lead a blameless post-mortem. Altaqi warns that over-reliance on certifications can actually produce one-dimensional thinking that runs counter to DevOps principles.

2. They Are Not a Great Fit for Everyone

Exam performance is a skill in itself. Some highly capable engineers perform poorly under the time pressure and format of a certification exam, while others who are less practically competent may test well. Oehrlich acknowledges that the pressure of certification can cause genuine anxiety in some individuals, which means hiring decisions that weight certifications too heavily may systematically disadvantage skilled practitioners who simply do not test well.

3. They Are Scope-Limited

As Roshan points out, most current DevOps certifications are scoped to a fixed set of tools or infrastructure capabilities. The broader transformation required to become a genuinely DevOps-oriented organisation — spanning delivery maturity, application architecture, toolchain design, infrastructure modernisation, and cultural change — far exceeds what any certification track covers. Treating a credential as proof of DevOps competence at the organisational level overstates its scope.

4. No Single Credential Opens Every Door

There is no golden ticket. Because DevOps encompasses such a wide range of tools, platforms, processes, and cultural practices, no single certification reliably signals readiness for every DevOps role. Professionals who expect a single credential to transform their employability across the board are likely to be disappointed. Dawson’s framing is useful here: certifications can fortify your knowledge and support a transition, but true DevOps roles rarely hinge on a particular credential.

5. The Credential Landscape Is Fragmented and Evolving

Because DevOps draws on so many disciplines, the certification landscape is fragmented. Roshan’s observation that you could chase 10 or more credentials to achieve comprehensive coverage is not an exaggeration. Certifications also age: a credential that was highly valued when a particular tool was dominant may carry less weight as the tooling ecosystem shifts. Practitioners need to weigh the ongoing maintenance cost of staying current in a moving landscape.

How to Think About DevOps Certifications Strategically

The experts quoted throughout this article share a consistent message: context is everything. The right question is not “are DevOps certifications valuable?” in the abstract, but rather:

Where do you sit in the DevOps chain? Developer, ops engineer, SRE, release manager, and platform engineer roles each benefit from different credential sets.

What does your current or target employer actually value? Some organisations treat certifications as a baseline filter; others rely entirely on portfolio work and technical interviews.

What tools and platforms does your team use? Aligning certifications to your actual stack maximises practical return.

Are you early-career or mid-career? Certifications tend to carry more weight at the entry and mid-career stages, where demonstrated experience may be thinner.

Can your employer fund the training? If so, the cost-benefit calculation shifts significantly in favour of pursuing credentials.

As Oehrlich summarises: certifications add to the marketability of a DevOps professional, but they must be evaluated in the full context of that person’s experience, role, and career goals. They are a useful signal — not the whole story.

Source:- enterprisersproject.com

Which IT certifications will boost your cloud computing credentials – and salary? Here’s data and advice on the best cloud certifications

The value of IT certifications often depends on an individual or an organization. Employer A might place a high value on a particular credential, while Employer B all but ignores it. Similarly, a certification may have helped one person get their foot in the door to their current role, but wouldn’t make sense for the person sitting in the office next door.

Which is to say: The IT certification marketplace is fluid. That doesn’t mean you can’t assess the potential value of particular certifications to your career. But as we noted previously in our coverage of top-paying IT certifications, it’s more art than science. Put another way, it’s often better to consider a certification’s value in qualitative rather than quantitative terms.

You can get some quantitative measure of what certain certifications are worth from various sources. Robert Half Technology’s annual salary report, for example, includes top-paying certifications based on a poll of its recruiters nationwide. Research firm Foote Partners also tracks the compensation value of particular certifications and skills.

What makes a cloud computing certification valuable?

Some general variables tend to determine the worth of these professional credentials. They include:

How hard the certification is to attain: If it’s a tad too easy to achieve a particular credential – especially if it’s intended to speak to fluency or mastery – that’s likely to drive down its value over time. It’s part supply-and-demand, part reputation: IT pros in particular roles or fields tend to weed out the cakewalks from the serious credentials, as do hiring managers. In our recent piece on security certifications, for example, SAS CISO Brian Wilson and Eric Poynton, lead network threat hunter at Awake Security, pointed to the Offensive Security certs – OSCP and OSCE – as well-regarded in the industry, in part because of the intensive exams.

Industry opinions: Attitudes about particular certifications shift and evolve based on a variety of factors. They also tend to vary by field; Wilson told us that the value of some security certifications is a subject of fierce debate among security practitioners.

Career level and future goals: You don’t necessarily need the mastery-level certification for a secondary skill; similarly, chasing entry-level certifications doesn’t necessarily make sense for someone with 10 years of on-the-job training. Moreover, that entry-level certification that helped you get your start probably doesn’t need to be front-and-center on your resume in the later stages of your career.

Hiring demand for a skill or technology: This is a big one. The reality: If hiring demand is strong for certain skill sets or roles, then certifications that indicate competency or mastery in those skills are more likely to catch a recruiter or hiring manager’s eye. Bonus points if there’s a shortage of qualified people in a particular area. That’s why many of the top certifications in Robert Half’s 2019 salary report were related to cloud or security. As Ryan Sutton, district president for Robert Half, told us recently: “It’s all based on demand. Professionals with these certifications can often receive higher salaries because IT teams need these skills on their teams.”

3 types of cloud computing certifications

So cloud-related certifications are, as a general rule, worth something on the job market right now. The specific value gets back to individual and organizational circumstances, but Robert Half estimates that IT employers are currently paying a 5-to-10 percent premium for in-demand skill sets, cloud being one of them. Foote Partners research indicates certifications are worth a 7.6 percent bump in compensation, on average.

Here are 10 good examples of cloud-related certifications that may be especially worthwhile at the moment. They tend to break down into three categories.

Platform-specific certifications

As multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments proliferate, so does the need for IT pros with the right development and infrastructure skills needed to manage everything. That’s why the major cloud platforms and vendors offer various certifications in different areas of their ecosystems. It’s also why some of these certifications show up on lists of premium certifications, like the one in Robert Half’s salary report.

Examples include the AWS Certified Solutions Architect, which made the cut with Robert Half’s recruiters this year. This is also a good call-back to those criteria above – AWS offers multiple levels of certification, as do other public cloud platforms, so give some thought to your career level and future path. Robert Half’s recruiting team also included the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) on its list.

Robert Half SVP Jim Johnson recently pointed out the Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect as one worth watching.

Red Hat’s current menu of certifications also offers plenty of cloud-relevant options. As Chris Janiszewski, senior OpenStack solutions architect, Red Hat, has noted, the Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) is considered a “holy grail” of sorts among open source certifications. It’s the highest certification Red Hat offers and requires multiple other certifications and exams to achieve. Foote Partners noted RHCA and the Red Hat Systems Administrator (RHCSA) as two certifications that had gained more than 10 percent in market value over the three months ending October 1, 2018.
