Source:-https://www.sdxcentral.com/

Dell Technologies today announced the general availability of Omnia, its open source platform for managing high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads.

Omnia is an open source set of Ansible Playbooks developed by Dell’s HPC and AI innovation team in partnership with Intel and the broader HPC community. If this sounds familiar, Dell quietly released Omnia on Github earlier this year.

The platform automates the process of downloading and installing open source software for things like cluster management, application execution, accelerator drivers, frameworks, applications and platforms, and it manages systems running Slurm or Kubernetes, explained Caitlin Gordon, VP of product management at Dell Technologies.

“It’s all about simplifying and easing the development and the management of high-performance clusters for not just HPC but AI,” she said.

And because these automations are built on Ansible Playbooks, “you can compose and recompose the stack, based on what you need,” Gordon said. “We’re really taking an infrastructure as code approach here.”

This, she added, allows users to compose HPC deployments around a wide variety of workloads and hardware from multiple vendors. “Of course, because its open source, it can be shaped to whatever your needs are,” Gordon said. “We’ll continue to integrate the latest open source tools, but we also, even more importantly, have the collective power of the HPC community already working behind this.”

Arizona State University, one of Dell Technology’s HPC and AI centers for excellence, is among the first to deploy Omnia and begin contributing to its development, according to Gordon.

Dell HPC Nabs VMware Support, PowerEdge Gets Nvidia Upgrade
Dell Technologies also extended support for VMware to its HPC on-Demand program, which launched last year.

“Being able to consume things as a service be able to access resources as you need them, be able to move faster and simply pay for what you’re using. That’s really what HPC on demand is all about,” Gordon said. “It’s really about being able to support our customers who may not have the resources, or may not want to invest in their own infrastructure and people, because their HPC workloads maybe are inconsistent, and/or maybe they need to complement what they already have in their environment with a secondary environment to burst to.”

With support for VMware Cloud Foundation, VMware Cloud Director, and VMware vRealize Operations, customers can now extend these capabilities beyond single-tenant environments to include multi-tenant use cases.

Meanwhile, Dell Tech is adding Nvidia A10 and A30 GPUs to its PowerEdge server portfolio. “These are really ideal for things like VDI inferencing and interactive rendering,” Gordon said.

Source:-https://devops.com/

Dynatrace has added a security module to its observability platform that leverages its Davis artificial intelligence (AI) engine to automatically identify the software libraries and open source packages that represent the greatest security risk.

Ajay Gandhi, vice president of product marketing for Dynatrace, said the Davis Security Advisor, made available as part of the Dynatrace Application Security Module, makes it easier for IT teams understand which vulnerabilities need to be remediated first.

Davis Security Advisor aggregates vulnerability data in real-time and prioritizes remediation based on number of vulnerabilities, severity, impact to sensitive data, public exposure, how widely known the vulnerability is, and whether the code impacted is facing the Internet. That approach enables Davis Security Advisor to monitor all software libraries used in preproduction and production environments in a way that sharply reduces the number of false positives that would otherwise be generated, noted Gandhi.

As application environments become more complex—in part due to increased adoption of microservices that have lots of dependencies—it’s become impossible for IT teams to implement DevSecOps best practices in workflows without some form of AI augmentation, added Gandhi.

In fact, a recent Dynatrace survey found 89% of chief information security officer (CISOs) noted cloud-native architectures and container runtime environments, used primarily to construct microservices, have made it more difficult to detect and manage software vulnerabilities.

In theory, application developers are taking more responsibility for remediating security vulnerabilities within their applications. The challenge is they often inadvertently use an older version of a library that has known vulnerabilities. Hopefully, that issue gets addressed before an application gets deployed. There are, however, plenty of cases where, for one reason or another, a library with known vulnerabilities gets deployed anyway.

Making matter more challenging, many vulnerabilities are discovered after an application has been deployed. Developers don’t always have access to a software bill of materials that would make it easier to determine what libraries have been employed in what application or, for that matter, which libraries are dependent upon one another.

Gandhi said the Davis Security Advisor resolves that issue by employing machine learning algorithms, trained by Dynatrace, to identify those potential security issues. Once identified, the updates that need to be made can then be slipstreamed into a DevOps workflow.

Analyzing code for vulnerabilities is, of course, not a new idea. Training an AI model to perform that task on behalf of DevOps teams does promise to greatly accelerate the process at a time when organizations are under more pressure than ever to secure their software supply chains in the wake of a series of high-profile breaches.

It’s just not clear yet who inside organizations might drive adoption for AI platforms capable of identifying vulnerabilities in a way that helps prioritize remediation efforts. In some cases, cybersecurity teams have a vested interest in reducing the number of potential security incidents.

The one thing that is apparent is shipping insecure code faster only leads to more negative outcomes. There may not be such a thing as a ‘great’ application that happens to be insecure. Instead, the assumption will be that any application with known vulnerabilities, no matter how great, are too flawed to be deployed given all the security risks most businesses currently face.

Source:-https://techbullion.com/ In recent years, cloud computing has become more ubiquitous, even surpassing local computing in many cases. As such, cloud-based […]

Source:-https://techbullion.com/

In recent years, cloud computing has become more ubiquitous, even surpassing local computing in many cases. As such, cloud-based programs and services are now commonly used in consumer phones, computers, and smart devices. Aside from casual use, cloud computing also impacted the essential divisions of society, especially the healthcare industry. If you’re interested in learning more, please read on. In the following sections, we’ll discuss the benefits of cloud computing for the healthcare sector.

1) Faster services
In the healthcare industry, efficiency is as essential as the work to accomplish. As such, doctors, drug manufacturers, and illness prevention departments should always stay on schedule or go ahead in time if possible. Why? Since many lives and the public’s health are at stake, every second counts and can potentially change things.

While local computing works, it’s not as efficient as the newer cloud standard. With the latter, healthcare companies can process data and transfer information instantly. Also, workers can complete their tasks remotely, removing the need to wait for slow servers or travel to a specific office to access files or information. Going back, this is all possible thanks to the cloud’s powerful processing, faster servers, and ease of access.

2) Improved collaboration
Aside from efficiency, collaboration is also a vital part of every healthcare company. In hospitals, doctors, nurses, and other staff need to accurately transfer and receive information like patients’ data and other related things. However, local servers and programs are slow to process data, get easily congested with multiple user access, or don’t have effective remote and collaboration functions.

Thankfully, cloud computing supports both consumer and specialized programs. In detail, a healthcare company can choose to deploy its applications to a cloud provider or subscribe to a commercial service. Accordingly, healthcare workers can now send, upload, and access files in varying formats and sizes remotely, converse via chat, call, or video feed, and use more collaboration methods.

3) Cost-efficient operations
While it’s not commonly known, organizations can save money when choosing cloud computing over local processing. First, the former removes the need to hire people to maintain and solve issues of local servers as cloud providers ensure their platforms are always up and running. Next, the cost of repairs and maintenance most of the time outweighs the expense of paying for cloud subscriptions monthly.

Apart from that, it’s also now more practical to get a cloud platform package than build an entire server system in an organization. Besides, most will favor the faster cloud deployment than waiting for weeks or months to complete and potentially troubleshoot a local system. Lastly, as cloud computing is excellent at scaling, a healthcare company will only need to buy the space or computing power it requires. Also, when downgrading, there’s no need to throw away potential hardware as cloud providers offer easy downgrade plans with cost reductions.

4) Enhanced patient care efficiency
Cloud computing can enhance patient care in many ways. When accepting new patients, doctors and staff can quickly check the online database to check a person’s potential existing medical records. As a result, they can spend more time on actual consultations and not on the paperwork.

Next, a hospital can efficiently distribute patient information like condition, status, schedules, and medication to nurses and doctors. Besides that, with version control, workers can also avoid information inaccuracy when data mixes with other groups or new entries overlap existing ones. Regardless, these benefits enable medical workers to attend to patients easily and on time.

5) Better data management
If a healthcare organization uses local computing, chances are, it only has limited methods of storing and accessing data. As such, since offline databases are more constrained, they can restrict users to access faster or do things they can typically perform on commercial programs.

With cloud computing, that same organization can improve its data management methods. How? As cloud providers employ powerful technologies, it’s now possible to store more complex data and file types without worrying about slow down or errors. Additionally, organizing massive data collections won’t be as hard compared to doing it on a local server. Above all, healthcare workers can instantly upload/access information and files remotely without messing up the system or waiting for queues and slow loading times.

6) Improved privacy
Unlike offline processing, cloud computing provides more privacy and security for the healthcare sector. Given how cloud platforms use high-level encryption, multiple stacks of protection, and superior threat detection methods, it’s harder for criminals to infiltrate a healthcare company’s system.

However, relying on cloud computing for privacy isn’t enough. As the world is living in the modern digital age, it’s essential to become aware and preventive against data loss.

Thus, it’s not ideal to answer strange calls, emails, or messages outside the official apps and software of the organization, where a sender pretends to represent the hospital. Also, individuals could use Spokeo, an email search and reverse number lookup tool, to avoid hackers, scammers, and criminals. Using Spokeo’s email lookup tool and phone lookup features, you could verify a caller or sender’s hospital connection or learn about social profiles and criminal records.

Cloud Computing For Healthcare – What’s Beyond?
While cloud computing is not yet fully adopted, its potential will surely affect and change things in the near future. Moreover, although the healthcare sector only uses the cloud for collaboration and data management today, it will help medical workers in more ways soon. Aside from automation, cloud computing can also help medication, surgical operations, drug creation, and many more.

Given how fast the technology is progressing, only time will tell how close cloud companies will introduce supercomputers or even quantum ones. If that happens, the healthcare sector will surely benefit from better disease detection and identification, understanding of genetic mutation, and maybe even discover cures for many illnesses. Regardless, the future still depends on how hospitals and organizations react, keep an open mind, and adopt new technologies.

Only 1 in 10 developers deploy software on demand, multiple times per day, according to the Cloud Delivery Foundation’s 2021 State of Continuous Delivery report.

Continuous delivery is a key part of how organizations deliver value to their customers, providing the ability to make small changes to software reliably and at any time, according to the report.

The study, completed by research firm SlashData from data collected from more than 19,000 developers, asked for information on lead time for changes, deployment frequency, time to restore services, and change fail rates.

Two-thirds of respondents indicated it takes at least a week for code to go from committed to successfully run in production. Only about 6 percent said they can move code from commit to production in under an hour.

The programming languages that rank highest for speed and stability in software delivery performance are the shell scripting languages (Bash and PowerShell), with Go/Golang and JavaScript being the next best choices. Interestingly, Ruby, Python and Java — three of the most popular languages based on Tiobe rankings, were poorest in terms of software delivery performance.

“Having access to new relevant data is critical to assessing and making the right decisions. By building this State of CD Report, we have produced an exclusive dashboard for use by our community that shows the current state of continuous delivery for deployment frequency, lead time for changes, time to restore service, and more,” said Tracy Miranda, Continuous Delivery Foundation executive director. “Moving forward, we will publish this report annually in order to track the world’s capacity to deliver software with speed and security.”

Source:-https://containerjournal.com/

As I explained in my prior blog, Containers Practices Gap Assessment, containerizing software is valuable for DevOps.

Yet, as I work with clients on their DevOps journeys, I continue to encounter organizations that haven’t grasped the importance of using containers relative to bare metal, virtual machines (VMs) and serverless computing solutions. This article is intended to help organizations understand the difference and the advantages that containers offer for DevOps.

The workhorse of IT is the computer server on which software application stacks run. The server consists of an operating system, computing, memory, storage and network access capabilities; often referred to as a computer machine or just “machine.”

A bare metal machine is a dedicated server using dedicated hardware. Data centers have many bare metal servers that are racked and stacked in clusters, all interconnected through switches and routers. Human and automated users of a data center access the machines through access servers, high security firewalls and load balancers.

The virtual machine introduced an operating system simulation layer between the bare metal server’s operating system and the application, so one bare metal server can support more than one application stack with a variety of operating systems.

This provides a layer of abstraction that allows the servers in a data center to be software-configured and repurposed on demand. In this way, a virtual machine can be scaled horizontally, by configuring multiple parallel machines, or vertically, by configuring machines to allocate more power to a virtual machine.

One of the problems with virtual machines is that the virtual operating system simulation layer is quite “thick,” and the time required to load and configure each VM typically takes some time. In a DevOps environment, changes occur frequently. This load and configuration time is important, because failures that occur during the load and configuration can further delay the instantiation of the VM and the application.

The idempotent characteristic of modern configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible and SaltStack do help to reduce the chance for errors, but when configuration errors are detected, delays to reload and reconfigure the stacks take time. These delays constitute significant delays for each DevOps stage, and the accumulated time for the series of stages needed for a DevOps pipeline can be a significant bottleneck.

VMs are used in production IT environments because of the flexibility to support different configurations. However, the time to reload and configure VMs can be a bottleneck during release reconfigurations, and can delay mean-time-to-repair when failures occur.

Containers, such as those supported by Docker, have a very lightweight operating system simulation layer (the Docker ecosystem) that is tailored specifically to each application stack. Container systems such as Docker guarantee isolation between application stacks run over the same Docker layer.

Compared to VMs, the smaller “footprint” of containerized application stacks allows more application stacks to run on one bare metal machine or virtual machines, and they can be instantiated in seconds rather than minutes. These desirable characteristics make it easy to justify a migration from running an application stack on bare metal machines or VMs. Instead of time-consuming loading and configuring an application stack and OS layer for each machine, instantiation of a complete container image is loaded, and a small number of configuration variables are instantiated in seconds. This capability to quickly create and release containerized applications allows for the infrastructure to be immutable.

In thirty minutes, someone can go from having nothing on their machine to a full dev environment and the ability to commit and deploy. Containers are the fastest means to launch short-lived, purpose-built testing sandboxes as part of a continuous integration process.

Containers are the result of a build pipeline (artifacts-to-workload). Test tools and test artifacts should be kept in separate test containers. Containers include minimal runtime requirements of the application. An application and its dependencies bundled into a container is independent of the host version of the Linux kernel, platform distribution or deployment model.

Benefits of Containers
Benefits of containers include the following:

The small size of a container allows for quick deployment.
Containers are portable across machines.
Containers are easy to track and it is easy to compare versions.
More containers than virtual machines can run simultaneously on host machines.
The challenge with containers is to get your application stack working with Docker. Making containers for a specific application stack is a project easily justified by the ROI of reduced infrastructure costs and the benefits provided by immutable infrastructures such as fast mean-time-to-restore-service (MTTRS) during failure events.

Containerized infrastructure environments sit between the host server (whether it’s virtual or bare metal) and the application. This offers advantages compared to legacy or traditional infrastructure. Containerized applications start faster because you do not have to boot an entire server.

Containerized application deployments also are “denser,” because containers don’t require you to virtualize a complete operating system. Containerized applications are more scalable because of the ease of spinning up new containers.

Recommended Container Engineering Practices
Here are some recommended engineering practices for containerized infrastructure:

Containers are decoupled from infrastructure.
Container deployments declare resources needed (storage, compute, memory, network).
Place specialized hardware containers in their own cluster.
Use smaller clusters to reduce complexity between teams.
Serverless computing is a cloud computing execution model in which the cloud provider runs the server and dynamically manages the allocation of machine resources. Pricing is based on the actual resources consumed by an application, rather than on pre-purchased units of capacity. Serverless computing can simplify the process of deploying code into production. Scaling, capacity planning and maintenance operations may be hidden from the developer or operator. Serverless code can be used in conjunction with code deployed in traditional styles, such as microservices. Alternatively, applications can be written to be purely serverless and use no provisioned servers at all.

What This Means
This blog explained how containers compare to bare metal, virtual machines and serverless solutions. Those who are serious about DevOps would do well to learn about the advantages that containers offer as part of a DevOps solution. To learn more about containers, refer to my book Engineering DevOps.

Source:-https://www.esecurityplanet.com/

The increasing mobility of data, as it ping-pongs between clouds, data centers and the edge, has made it an easier target of cybercrime groups, which has put a premium on the encryption of that data in recent years.

Cybersecurity vendors have stepped up, developing strong and efficient ways to encrypt data both while it’s at rest and when it’s in transit. However, there is a glaring weakness. When the data is being processed, analyzed or used by applications in another way, it needs to be unencrypted, making it more vulnerable to attack.

To counter this, some major IT vendors are pushing forward with a decades-old encryption idea that was first talked about in the late 1970s but not successfully demonstrated for the first time until 2009. Since then, interest in fully homomorphic encryption (FHE) has increased, largely paralleling the rise of cloud computing.

Putting a Focus on FHE
FHE enables data to remain encrypted even as it is processed and analyzed, whether that’s in the cloud or in third-party environments. The data is protected against cybercriminals as well as others who are not supposed to see it. Once the mathematical operations, such as calculations, are run on the encrypted data, the results are decrypted and corrected.

In recent months, the list of interested vendors has included IBM, which in December announced its Security Homomorphic Encryption Services, a managed offering hosted on the IBM Cloud. Big Blue has been active in the development for years – it was an IBM researcher who ran the 2009 demonstration – and earlier last year conducted successful FHE field trials. The company also released an FHE toolkit for Apple’s MacOS and iOS operating systems, with Android and Linux being added later.

“Fully homomorphic encryption holds tremendous potential for the future of privacy and cloud computing, but businesses must begin learning about and experimenting with FHE before they can take full advantage of what it has to offer,” IBM Security CTO Sridhar Muppidi said in a statement at the time.

Microsoft’s SEAL (Simple Encrypted Arithmetic Library) is another such effort, an open-source software library created by researchers at the company that uses multiple forms of homomorphic encryption. It’s available on GitHub.

DARPA Gets In on the Effort
Intel, which has been adding security features to its silicon for years and has been working on FHE techniques, was picked earlier this year by the federal Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to work with Microsoft to create an ASIC chip for homomorphic encryption. DARPA will use the accelerator in DARPA’s Data Protection in Virtual Environments (DRPIVE) program to create the hardware needed to reduce the compute power and time that currently is required to run FHE operations. Intel will lead one of four research teams; the other three will be headed by software makers Duality Technologies – which uses homomorphic encryption in its Duality SecurePlus platform – and Galois and a Silicon Valley-based nonprofit scientific research institute, SRI International.

Earlier this month, Google released a collection of open-source libraries that can be used to implement FHE in modern workloads and made them available on GitHub.

“As cloud computing services continue to see widespread adoption, it becomes increasingly important for service providers to guarantee the security and privacy of the data of their customers,” Google researchers wrote in a paper released on GitHub.

Homomorphic Encryption a Long Time Coming
The FHE demo in 2009 proved the technology could work, but it was too slow and consumed too much compute power to be put to use and it was too expensive and required expertise in cryptography. However, such challenges are being addressed.

“Fortunately, over the last few years, FHE has become less computationally intensive, due to significant progress in hardware acceleration, efficient optimizations, and low-level implementations,” the Google researchers wrote.

Still, they added, for adoption of FHE to be widespread, tools are needed to enable software developers without cryptographic expertise to integrate homomorphic encryption into their applications. Dirk Schrader, global vice president of security research at New Net Technologies, agreed. He said a hurdle will be the application of FHE “where the analytics of large data sets will be used for benchmarking individuals, as seen in all those fitness applications or health monitors. Consumerization has the intrinsic tendency to include the question of cost of operation and maintenance, and applying high-end cryptography requires solid knowledge and development skills.”

Digital Health Projects to Benefit
Despite the remaining hurdles, Google, IBM, Microsoft and others are pushing to make it easier for developers to leverage the technology. Bringing FHE to the point where it could be used by vendors and developers would be helpful to organizations in a range of industries, Schrader, whose company makes cybersecurity and compliance software, told eSecurity Planet.

FHE “can solve some of the pressing issues arising out of the conflict to analyze large sums of data points generated by many individuals,” he said. “Many countries are considering some kind of digital health initiatives, where the promise to find better cures is countered by the fear [of losing] privacy. [Homomorphic encryption] offers an interesting approach here by allowing the analysis of encrypted data for purposes that are not related to an individual data set.”

Other possible uses include autonomous public transportation analyzing users’ locations to predict the load in a highly populated urban area, he said, adding that big data “is based on the promise to distill previously undiscovered opportunities from large amounts of data and has, so far with good reason, earned criticism from data privacy advocates.”

A Small but Growing Market
The FHE market is small but expected to grow in the coming years, with market research firm The Insight Partners predicting it will increase from $120.12 million in 2019 to $246.29 million by 2027, an average of 9.7 percent a year. Most of the use will be in North America and Europe, though the Asia-Pacific region stands to see the fastest growth. IBM noted that Gartner forecasts that while currently fewer than 1 percent of companies have the budget for projects that include FHE, that number will be more than 20 percent by 2026.

All this is happening as businesses increasingly adopt hybrid cloud and multi-cloud strategies. In its annual State of the Cloud report, IT management software maker Flexera found that 92 percent of enterprises have embraced a multi-cloud environment and 80 percent have hybrid clouds. Meanwhile, the number of government regulations and standards, such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and California’s Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), are putting growing pressure on enterprises to ensure that the data they collect, store, analyze and act on, is protected from bad actors and prying eyes. Being able to leverage FHE would give them another tool to use to do just that.

June 1, 2021 – ServiceNow, a company that streamlines work processes with modern digital workflows, recently debuted its first product designed for the manufacturing sector. The company is partnering with Siemens Energy to provide a software service that allows energy companies to monitor, identify and respond to cyber threats intended to attack critical infrastructure.

This partnership and new offering couldn’t have come at a better time, said Leo Simonovich, head of Industrial Cybersecurity at Siemens Energy. “The energy landscape is the most attacked sector of critical infrastructure, and for good reason: it’s the backbone of our economy,” Simonovich said. “Legacy assets, like control systems and PLCs, are being brought online and connected to other assets to realize the benefits of digitalization. Every new asset that gets connected introduces new vulnerabilities in the infrastructure.”

Marshall Tyler, vice president of Industry Solutions at ServiceNow, said customers have been asking for help securing critical infrastructure, so ServiceNow is happy to answer the call. “This is the #1 thing our customers have asked us to do,” he said. The company’s workflow automation platform enables an enterprise to optimize business processes in any area, including logistics, customer service, employee hiring or scientific discovery.

The Siemens Energy solution combines AI-based software from Siemens’ Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service with ServiceNow’s Operational Technology Management software to detect cyber anomalies and create a workflow to streamline their mitigation.

“Various parts of an organization—such as the field, operations center and control room—have to work together quickly to stop cyber threats,” Simonovich said. “We are helping create bridges between these different parts of an organization. With our joint capabilities, we are providing a detection capability that allows operators to zero in on threats without shutting down the whole system.”

“We are taking the IT expertise we have gained over the years and applying it to the manufacturing sector,” said Abhijit Mitra, vice president and GM, Industry Products, at ServiceNow. “We are applying our workflow platform in the area of operational tech management.” He explained that after various anomalies—potential or definite cyber threats have been identified—they need to be prioritized. “ServiceNow will help orchestrate the workflow for dealing with these threats.”

Source:-https://pandaily.com/ According to data made available by Canalys on June 23, the expenditure on cloud infrastructure services in the Chinese […]

Source:-https://pandaily.com/

According to data made available by Canalys on June 23, the expenditure on cloud infrastructure services in the Chinese market grew by 55% in the first quarter of 2021, reaching $6 billion. As the Chinese government has made cloud computing its top strategic priority, it has promoted the development of cloud infrastructure services, with the Chinese market growing faster than the rest of the world.

China is the second largest market after the United States, accounting for 14% of global investment, higher than 12% in the first quarter of 2020. The country’s four major cloud service providers are Alibaba Cloud, Huawei Cloud, Tencent Cloud and Baidu AI Cloud, which together account for more than 80% of the total expenditure.

Canalys pointed out that Alibaba Cloud led the market with a 40% share, but its growth slowed to 38% in the first quarter. This is due to the termination of the contract by a major customer to comply with data ownership requirements outside China. Alibaba Cloud is also under strict scrutiny from China’s State Administration for Market Regulation, which led to a fine in April for violating anti-monopoly laws.

Huawei Cloud achieved the biggest increase in the quarter, surging 116% and accounting for 20% of the market share. Its rapid growth benefits from Internet customers and government projects, as well as major victories in the automotive industry. Huawei is currently building its largest data center facility in the Guian New Area, Guizhou province, to provide services for Southwest China.

Tencent ranks third with a 14% share. Baidu AI Cloud is the fourth largest cloud service provider, accounting for 7% of the total expenditure in the first quarter of 2021.

Cloud computing has been growing rapidly for many years, as more and more companies seek to work remotely, improve efficiency through automation and save money on IT infrastructure. According to a 2021 Gartner report, it is estimated that the global end-user expenditure on public cloud services will increase by 23.1% to $332.3 billion in 2021 from $270 billion in 2020.

According to Gartner, Google occupied 5% of the cloud infrastructure market in 2019, while Amazon had 45% and Microsoft had about 18%.

“Companies can use these services without purchasing or installing physical infrastructure. They can get exactly what they need when they need it, and expand or reduce services as demand changes,” said Dr. Scott Overmyer, Associate Dean of Information Technology at Southern New Hampshire University.
